My uncle, who was three years older than his father, ran with the crowd into the large courtyard in the northwest corner of Zhuang. No matter how the bandits fired their guns outside, the people in the courtyard kept their doors open. The bandits could not enter the courtyard and set the house on fire outside. The fire choked people unable to open their eyes, and they were afraid of being killed by bandits after escaping over the wall. In the end, so many people in Li Bo and Zhuang Were burned alive inside by the fire. Father said, after your grandfather and your uncle died, you were left with your grandmother and me, orphans and widows who did not eat or wear, and it was really sad. There is really no way, your grandmother led me to live in Wang Shili (village), your aunt's house, until after the founding of the country. ”

Liu Linfu (1921-2008), a member of the Communist Party, joined the work in 1949 and successively served as the director of the Miaodian Township Farmers' Association, the township chief, the secretary of Xinglong Township, and the secretary of the organization of Xiawa and Raoliang Communes, and retired in Raoliang.

During many visits to Liu Hezhuang, those real people and real events were reproduced in the memories of the old people. However, after repeatedly reading "The Long Night", I felt that there were still several things that I couldn't understand, and I always wondered: First, whose "beautiful house" was Liu Hezhuang, and why could it be protected by bandits?

I hugged my mother, dragged my brother and a group of people to the gate of the Liu family, crying and calling for the door, the Liu family not only did not open the door, but also told the guys to stand on the ridge and throw bricks down... ”
People who live in the same village are old neighbors, and everyone is connected by the same fate. Why did the Liu family not take out their guns and give them to the people to guard the village, but instead closed the gate to prevent neighbors from entering, and even threw bricks down. What is the heart of the Liu family?
The old people in the discussion said that a hundred years ago, there was a north-south ditch in Liu Huzhuang Village. Most of the people in Gouxi are surnamed Liu, and Goudong is surnamed Hu, so the name is Liu Huzhuang. Later, the old Li family, who lived in Mazhai Village, twelve miles southeast of Raoliang Town, bought hundreds of acres of land in Liu Huzhuang and cultivated it for Zhu, Li and many other tenants. Therefore, Liu Huzhuang became the hanging village of the Li family in Mazhai.
Later, the Mazhai Li family split up, and the ancestors of Li Wenbing (the late retired worker) were assigned to Liu Huzhuang to manage and enjoy these hundreds of acres of land. Later, the Hu family broke down and sold their house (that is, the beautiful house) to the Li family. Since then, Li Wenbing's ancestors have lived in that beautiful house and multiplied.

A hundred years later, this beautiful house, the head of the beast at both ends of the roof ridge was demolished due to the "four olds", the tiles on the roof were scattered, the eaves and dripping water (tiles) were incomplete, standing alone in the trees, witnessing the great changes of the years.
This room originally had five hall houses, which were bright and dark five (standing at the gate can only see the main room three, the east and west ends of the accompanying room are covered by the east and west wing rooms) residence, three east and west wing rooms and the courtyard gate. During the land reform, the Li family was classified as landlords, and the house was divided among the Dai family, who cultivated the land. Over time, the two ends of the wing and the hall house and the main door collapsed and demolished, leaving only three lone main rooms. Today, some of the Dai family have settled outside, and some have built new houses, so this house is uninhabited, the courtyard is deserted, and the front door has also been reclaimed as arable land and planted with crops.
The Li family's hometown is in Mazhai Village, which is close to the two villages of Xue Ciyuan and the ground. Neighboring villages, in the intergenerational exchanges, often make friends with each other. Besides, Ciyuan is a nest where Li Shuimo's pole has entered and exited several times. During the visit, the small pool where the bodies of multiple children were lying were not found. The old people recalled that the small pool was neither a big pit where lotus roots are planted now, nor a dry pit in the southwest of the "beautiful house". It should be the small pit in front of the Xu family's door that is very close to the "beautiful house" at that time. This small pit later became a dung pit in the cattle house yard of the production team. Later, as the village changed, the watering hole was filled in and disappeared.
That beautiful house obviously belonged to the Li family, why did the little girl say, "Uncle Liu must guard his own house and not hand over the fast gun to the people to guard the village!" And said"Run to the door of the Liu family, the Liu family not only did not open the door but let the guys throw bricks down"? This may be that the author has forgotten a little after a long time, or he did not hear clearly at the time, mistakenly writing Uncle Li as Uncle Liu, and writing the Li family as the Liu family.

A Letter to readers says: In the novel, It is written that Li Shuiyu attacked Liu Hezhuang, and xue Zhengli attacked a small village, killing people and setting fires, both of which were struggles against the Red Gun Society. During the visit, I asked the old people: Do you know that there was an army at that time? Whose army is it? The old people looked at each other and said that after so many years, they had never heard of the army coming to the rescue.
Since no army came, why did "the squatters inside and outside the grass hut buzz and start to come out of the water"? The reason for this remains a mystery.

Shang Yupo, 99 years old, now lives with his daughter in Shitasi Village. Due to prior telephone contact, his son-in-law Zhao Wenzhong and daughter Shang Qinghua had prepared tobacco tea and waited at home.
Shang Yupo is a hundred-year-old man with limited mobility but a clear head, sitting in a wheelchair and talking to us. Referring to the bandits beating Liu Hezhuang, he said: "At that time, I was three or four years old, and I just remembered something. I heard that when the bandits attacked the village, the can cannon on the wall of the village (the large earthen cannon at that time) slammed into the outside of the village, but did not stop people. The bandits shouted "Up, up," and another can of cannons on the wall of the village knocked down three bandits at once. The pole was urgent, the cannon sounded, and the door panel attacked the village, found that there were no fast guns in the village, and attacked hard. Later, another cannon shot sounded, and the turret was shaken down, and the village was opened. After the pole entered the village, he fired a shot at the back of a woman, the bullet passed through the chest, she was the daughter-in-law surnamed Zhu, Li Lizhuang surnamed Wang Ni. And Wen Han,his old man (father) was also killed.
As soon as he opened it, people squeezed across the river and ran towards Neem Village, and the pole slammed behind it. Liu hezhuang, who crossed the river, shouted, "The grandfathers of Neem Zhuang help, help." At that time, there were several (branches) of Hanyang-made fast guns in Neem Village, but they did not dare to rush to the rescue and stood at the head of the village in a hurry. When he heard the Zhuang people shouting for help, the Zhuang Shangren took the fast gun and fired many shots in a row...
Everyone analyzed: It was that the Neem Zhuang people fired many shots in a row, and the pole mistakenly believed that the army was coming, and hurriedly "came out of the water." Therefore, the "mystery" mentioned earlier has finally been solved.
