Reed weave mats cover the reeds, and cowhide twist whips to whip the cattle. "The Complete Biography of Ji Xiaolan records that this couplet was a couplet that Ji Xiaolan, a great talent of the Qing Dynasty, responded to Mr. Private School when he was young. Ji Xiaolan was less than eight years old when he was studying at a private school, and at that time he was able to make a connection to Mr. Shang's private school, which shows that he has been quick thinking and talented since he was a child.

Ji Xiaolan was a famous talent of the Qing Dynasty, who worked all his life in poetry and literature, read a lot of books, and when he was eight years old, he had already read the Analects, Mencius, and the University and the Zhongyong, which was far from being comparable. Especially in the couplet, he has shown extraordinary talent since he was a child.

Therefore, over the years, whether it is folklore or literary creation. But anyone who mentions Ji Xiaolan, a Scholar of the Qing Dynasty, cannot avoid his achievements in couplets.

There are folk tales and legends, Ji Xiaolan not only when he himself was on a blind date, but also used his own talent to impress the other party with couplets. Even when his students got married, they gave a witty couplet. Therefore, not only some exquisite couplets are left behind, but also a rather interesting allusion.

1. Propose marriage with Miaolian

Ji Xiaolan's student got married, ordered someone to send a couplet, and after the bride understood it, she scolded Ji Xiaolan for being too bad

When Ji Xiaolan was seventeen years old, he had reached the age of marrying a wife. After negotiating with his father Ji Rongshu, he and his fourth uncle Ji Rongduan went to Mafu in Dongguang County to propose marriage. After arriving at MaFu, the group presented the gifts and met Ma Zhouzhen, the owner of Mafu. Ma Zhouzhen already knew ji Xiaolan, a talented prodigy, and saw that he talked extraordinaryly, and a table of talents was on the same level as his second daughter Ma Yuefang, and he agreed to seven or eight points in his heart.

However, Ma Yuefang's attitude towards suitors is always to deal with the problem herself, and only when she is satisfied can she propose. For Ji Xiaolan, this rule is naturally not a problem. Subsequently, Ma Yuefang produced a series of poems for Ji Xiaolan to deal with.

The first link is "Dry Bagua, Kun Bagua, Eight Eight Sixty-Four Gua, Gua Gua Qiankun has been determined." And Ji Xiaolan was right: "Nine voices of luan, nine sounds of phoenix, nine sounds of nine nine eighty-one sounds, born of luan phoenix and sound." "This pair is a wonderful pair.

The latter poem is actually Ma Yuefang gave 48 words: Playing the piano and reciting the ancient poem in the mid-autumn festival of the month, without hearing the bells and drums, he knew that the stars and buckets were moved to the ancient temple when the immortals returned to the ancient temple when the prime minister was lucky; if Ji Xiaolan could read this poem, he agreed to the marriage.

Ji Xiaolan pondered for a moment and then read out a poem. He added one word before each of the six words and read a poem:

Ji Xiaolan's student got married, ordered someone to send a couplet, and after the bride understood it, she scolded Ji Xiaolan for being too bad

August Mid-Autumn Festival,

Play the piano and recite ancient poems under the moon.

The temple does not hear the bells and drums,

Deeper to know the stars to move.

How many gods and immortals returned to the ancient temple,

The DPRK-China Prime Minister has a chance to do so.

When will we get to Taoyuan Cave,

Play chess with the Immortals.

Immediately, Ma Yuefang agreed to the marriage.

Second, Miaolian should be a congratulatory gift

Ji Xiaolan's student got married, ordered someone to send a couplet, and after the bride understood it, she scolded Ji Xiaolan for being too bad

In the twenty-fifth year of Qianlong, the emperor celebrated his fiftieth birthday, and Ji Xiaolan sent a pair of shou lian. The Shou lian is: "Forty thousand li huangtu, since the ancients, there has never been a dynasty to unify forty thousand li; fifty years of holy life, since the past, there are still nine thousand nine hundred and fifty years." Qianlong was very happy after reading it, and the dragon heart was very pleased and gave Ji Xiaolan a reward.

After receiving the reward, family members and friends came to congratulate them. One of them was a beautifully embroidered arrow coat that everyone praised for its good looks. When Ji Xiaolan went to the concubine Guo Cai's room to prepare for a rest, he was stopped by lady Wang, the mother of the family, who came and asked Ji Xiaolan to put on an arrow suit to watch.

Lady Wang was the mother-in-law of Ji Xiaolan's eldest son, Ru Tuo, and Ji Xiaolan was naturally not good at refusing. After Ji Xiaolan put on the arrow suit, Madame Wang praised Ji Xiaolan and exaggerated Ji Xiaolan. Momentarily overwhelmed, he gave Madame Wang a poem.

Madame Wang knew that Ji Xiaolan's talent was extraordinary, so she became interested. Ji Xiaolan, on the other hand, opened his mouth and came: "Tonight my mother is too affectionate, coveting the show clothes and walking around the knees; after seeing the silence of the night,......" Before the poem was finished, Guo Caifu on the side quickly stopped him, afraid that he would say something inappropriate. Subsequently, Ji Xiaolan sent him away with the phrase "Ping Ping

And it was this last sentence that made Guo Caifu laugh, but he remembered an incident that happened earlier. Not long ago, there was a twenty-five-year-old xinke jinshi named Wang Xiping, and Ji Xiaolan called him a student, and after entering high school, he married the daughter of a waiter in the capital, which can be described as a double happiness.

The day of the big gift is naturally full of guests, and the high friends are full of seats. Unlike other people's congratulatory gifts, Ji Xiaolan went to send a couplet.

The couplet is: 平平仄仄平平仄, 仄仄平仄仄平.

Ji Xiaolan's student got married, ordered someone to send a couplet, and after the bride understood it, she scolded Ji Xiaolan for being too bad

There is also a horizontal batch: flat up to enter.

This kind of congratulatory gift is more strange, everyone does not understand what it means, and after many discussions, it is ultimately not the point. Wang Xiping is a new science and technology soldier, and he is naturally full of talent. He had also heard of Ji Xiaolan's name in his career, and he knew that the other party had learned superhuman, so he felt that this painting had a deep meaning for the couplet.

For a while, I couldn't understand it, so I continued to think, and I didn't understand the meaning of not giving up. However, when I entered the cave room, I still couldn't figure out what this couplet meant. This special gift sent by Ji Xiaolan made Wang Xiping difficult. And his new wife was curious to study it together, but it was still in the clouds, and it was not clear what it meant.

It was not until the time of the two men's cave that the groom understood the harmony at once. For a moment, I couldn't help but laugh. The bride was startled by Wang Xiping's laughter and then asked him what was going on.

Wang Xiping asked the bride, "What is the gift from Ji Xueshi?" The bride replied that it was a pair of rhymes. Wang Xiping shook his head and said to the bride, "If you read it together with the horizontal batch, you will understand what it is." Flat, go up and in. Ping Ping Ping Ping

Later, after the bride walked around the Ji Mansion and became acquainted with Guo Caifu, she said this, and Guo Caifu also apologized to the other party with a red face.

epilogue

There is no doubt that Ji Xiaolan is an extraordinary talented person, and throughout his life, it can be seen that he has left extremely exquisite couplets in all aspects of his life. Or brilliant atmosphere, or witty and interesting, for the development and inheritance of China's couplet culture, has played an irreplaceable role. Ji Xiaolan's talent is beyond reproach, and he does not make any judgments about how to deal with the world, but his feelings about life in his later years are worth thinking about.

In his later years, Ji Xiaolan once said something to several of his children and grandchildren, asking his children and grandchildren to do it: poor do not cut off the fragrance of books, rich do not enter the salt line, lowly do not enter slavery, and noble people are greedy and dirty. This is Ji Xiaolan's feeling after entering the Hanlin Academy at the age of thirty-one to compile the "Four Libraries of the Whole Book", reading the books of the world, and floating and sinking for fifty spring and autumn.
