On December 4, the Wuhan team officially announced that Li Jinyu was officially appointed to take over the position of head coach of the Wuhan team.
Li Jinyu won the Golden Boot of the Chinese Super League for two consecutive years and scored 100 goals in China's top league in 2007, becoming the first player in the history of Chinese football to receive this honor. Li Jinyu made 73 appearances for the Chinese national team in various international competitions and scored 26 goals.
In 2011, after retiring, Li Jinyu began his coaching career as an assistant coach of the Chinese women's national football team. In January 2021, Li Jinyu joined the Coaching Team of Wuhan as an assistant coach.
On December 3, the website of the Chinese Football Association published the news: after the study and decision of the Chinese Football Association, it agreed to Li Tie's request to resign as the head coach of the Chinese men's national football team. After extensive solicitation of opinions, the Chinese Football Association decided to appoint Li Xiaopeng as the head coach of the Chinese men's national football team.
It is worth noting that Li Tie, Li Xiaopeng and Li Jinyu all served as the head coach of the Wuhan team.
