Weekly Diplomatic Observation: These two tests, some countries will not be able to get off the stage

On December 1, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made a big fuss, falsely saying that "if there is something in Taiwan, it means that Japan has a problem, that is, there is a matter with the Japan-US alliance." For this reason, Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying made an urgent appointment late at night with Japanese Ambassador to China Tsui Sou-o-o to lodge solemn representations. The spokespersons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council also spoke out separately to express the solemn and just position of the Chinese Government. "If Japanese politicians continue to be obstinate, obstinately obstinate, and make irresponsible remarks on the Taiwan issue, they will surely blame themselves and swallow their own bitter fruits." The comments published by Xinhua News Agency on the same day bluntly said: If you want to borrow Taiwan to make trouble, Abe has miscalculated.

The United States, whose own democracy is in jeopardy, is not idle. In recent times, the United States has spared no effort to sell the so-called "democracy summit" to the world. This week, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to relevant questions for five consecutive days, and the Information Office of the State Council also issued a white paper on "Democracy in China" on the 4th. In fact, the essence of the so-called "democratic summit" put together by the United States and peddled the narrative of "democracy against authoritarianism" is to revive the Cold War mentality, provoke separatism and confrontation, and serve its own hegemonic plots. Regarding the dangerous move of the United States to revive the Cold War mentality, many national political leaders have also criticized it one after another.

Wanting to make trouble on Taiwan, Abe miscalculated

On December 1, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe falsely claimed that "if taiwan has a problem, Japan has a problem," which is equivalent to "the Japan-US alliance has a problem," and also made erroneous remarks about the Diaoyu Islands.

"The Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied with and resolutely opposed to blatant nonsense and finger-pointing on the Taiwan issue, and has lodged solemn representations through diplomatic channels." At the Foreign Ministry's regular news conference held in the afternoon of the same day, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin bitterly criticized Abe's erroneous remarks on China.

On the 1st, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin presided over a regular press conference

That evening, Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying urgently met with Japanese Ambassador to China Shufu Andi to lodge solemn representations on Abe's erroneous remarks on China. Hua Chunying said that Abe's extremely erroneous remarks on the Taiwan issue, gross interference in China's internal affairs, blatant provocation of China's sovereignty, and brazen support for the "Taiwan independence" forces have seriously violated the basic norms governing international relations and the principles of the four Political Documents between China and Japan. China firmly opposes this. Some media have noted that this is the first time that Japan's new ambassador to China, Shufu Tsui, has been urgently met by the Chinese side late at night; it is also the first time that the Japanese ambassador has been urgently interviewed by the Chinese side late at night since Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio took office.

In response to Abe's erroneous remarks, Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said in response to an inquiry on 2 July that Abe's argument on the Taiwan issue of advocating containment of China and instigating "Taiwan independence" reflects that he has stubbornly adhered to his erroneous stance on historical issues and Taiwan-related issues, has not thought of repentance, and has constantly slid into a dangerous direction, and the international community must be highly vigilant.

Several press releases issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council mentioned the "four political documents" between China and Japan. Since the normalization of diplomatic relations, China and Japan have signed or issued four political documents, namely, the "Joint Declaration on the Restoration of Diplomatic Relations between China and Japan" issued when diplomatic relations were restored in 1972, the "Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship" signed by the two countries in 1978, the "Sino-Japanese Joint Declaration" issued by the two sides in 1998, and the "Joint Statement on Promoting Strategic and Reciprocal Relations" issued by the two countries in 2008. These four political documents clearly stipulate the principles for China and Japan to handle major issues such as history, Taiwan, and the Diaoyu Dao, and are an important consensus reached by the Chinese and Japanese governments through a series of consultations and negotiations.

However, some Japanese politicians, including Shinzo Abe, still have a lingering attachment to Taiwan and from time to time make moves that run counter to the spirit of the four Sino-Japanese political documents. From a personal point of view, Abe jumped out to make trouble on the Taiwan issue, nothing more than to create a topic and win attention, although he wanted to continue to maintain the status of Japan's right-wing "standard-bearer" after stepping down.

Looking at Abe's administration history, it is not difficult to see that what he says and does today is in line with his political philosophy. When he was in power, he vigorously engaged in "historical revisionism" and ran wild on the right-wing road. He challenged the "Kono Talk" and the "Murayama Talk" to open the way for the revival of militarism, went to Iwo Jima and Burma to pay homage to the invading Japanese troops killed in World War II, and even did not shy away from taking the "731" fighter plane... For this reason, Mr. Abe has been called "the most dangerous person" in Asia by the American media.

Behind Abe's finger-pointing on the Taiwan issue also reflects that there are always a handful of forces in Japan who are obsessed with the old dream of militarism, do not think of repentance, and have ambitions not to die, and still try to invade Taiwan to this day. "To extract political capital, revive the old dream of a militaristic state, pull together with the United States, and cooperate to suppress China." The comments published by the Xinhua News Agency on the 1st directly pointed out the purpose of Abe's and his ilk's vain remarks on the Taiwan issue, and bluntly said that "Abe and his ilk want to make trouble with Taiwan and are miscalculating."

In addition to Shinzo Abe, the remarks made by Japan's current leader this week were also refuted by the Chinese side. In his speech at the informal meeting of the 13th ASEM Summit, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed concern about the so-called human rights issues in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, and the Chinese side immediately refute them in his statement. "What the Japanese side should do is to deeply reflect on its own history and human rights shortcomings, rather than arbitrarily interfering in China's internal affairs." On November 29, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin further responded.

The essence of the "democracy summit" is anti-democracy

On December 1, a poll of 18- to 29-year-olds released by Harvard University's Kennedy School showed that 52 percent of young people believe that American democracy has failed or is in trouble, and only 7 percent believe that the United States is a healthy democracy; previously, 44 percent of the world believe that the United States is the biggest threat to global democracy, and 81 percent of Americans believe that American democracy faces serious threats from home. This shows that American-style democracy, which has lost the support of the people, has long become a source of water and a wood without a root.

However, the United States, which is at risk of its own democracy, plans to hold a so-called "democracy summit" by video on December 9-10, and also selects "like-minded" participants based on its own assumptions about democratic standards and the estrangement of interests.

In this regard, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson responded to relevant questions for five consecutive days this week. In view of the anti-democratic behavior of the United States in determining which countries are democratic and which countries are not democratic according to its own likes and dislikes, and using the scale of the United States to measure the quality of democracy in all countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the United States has drawn a line by its own standards, divided half of the world's countries and regions into the "democratic camp" and classified the other half of the countries into the ranks of "non-democratic countries," exposing the real intention of the United States to instrumentalize and weaponize democracy, to promote geostrategy under the guise of democracy, and to suppress dissidents.

On the evening of December 3, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi further elaborated China's position on the US plan to hold a so-called "democracy summit" during a telephone conversation with Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi. Wang Yi said that the purpose of the United States is not democracy, but hegemony. Wang Yi also suggested that the international community may wish to make two tests: one is to test whether countries believe that the United States is a model of democracy in the world; the other is to test the satisfaction of the people of all countries with their own governments. "I think the result will make some countries unable to come to power." Wang Yi said.

"China's democracy is people's democracy, and the people's mastery is the essence and core of China's democracy." The Information Office of the State Council issued a white paper on "Democracy in China" on the 4th. The white paper also emphasizes that democracy is not an ornament, not used for decoration, but to solve the problems that the people need to solve. Democracy is the right of peoples, not the patent of a few.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the end of the cold war. The dangerous move of the United States to hold a "democracy summit" to revive the Cold War mentality has also aroused the high vigilance of the international community. For some time now, many national dignitaries and media have criticized the So-called "Democracy Summit" held by the United States. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the so-called "democratic summit" convened by the United States is to promote its own democratic concept, reject truly democratic international cooperation, and ignore the principle of sovereign equality of countries in the UN Charter. The West is trying to replace democracy with dictatorship in international relations; Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tun said that the "democracy summit" is purely for political purposes and is political manipulation, and Thailand should be happy that it has not received an invitation; Hungarian Foreign Minister Sijardo pointed out that the "democracy summit" has typical American domestic political characteristics, and Hungarian democracy does not need anyone to judge.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel and other media in the Middle East commented that the "democracy summit" is a tool for the United States to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and maintain hegemony, and American-style democracy has left nothing of value except sowing the seeds of death and destruction in the Middle East and around the world.
