The beautiful picture of a lady with an open face that recently appeared in the Poly Calligraphy and Painting Field in Beijing was painted by Mr. Fu Baoshi for his wife on June 26, 1945 in Jingangpo, Chongqing, and the long title on the right side of the painting is that the day he painted was the 35th birthday of his wife, Ms. Luo Shihui.

At that time, they had been married for 15 years, trekking from Nanchang in Jiangxi Province to many places, and finally settling in Jingangpo in Chongqing, and his wife Luo Shihui followed him and suffered a lot. Fu Baoshi's character paintings mostly use the technique of baking clouds and supporting the moon, which is also reflected in this painting. The woman's eyes are depicted very well, light ink hook, thick ink dots, and then use light ink scattered edges to paint the pupils of the eyes, render several times, with thick eyelashes, deep and subtle, and appear exquisite and clear, looking back and flowing, Gu Pansheng posture. The old saying has clouds: it is easy to wave the five strings in your hand, and it is difficult to see the return to Hong. Fu Baoshi can depict such a moving eyebrow, and his skill can be seen.
After the creation of this painting, it has been treasured by Fu Baoshi in his own study. Later, after several turns during the Cultural Revolution, more than 400 other paintings were deposited in the Nanjing Museum. In 1979, Mrs. Fu Baoshi generously donated 356 pieces to the Nanjing Museum, leaving only a few dozen particularly commemorative works, including this painting "The Lady of Liuyin". In the following 20 or 30 years, "The Lady of Liuyin" participated in various "Fu Baoshi Memorial Exhibitions" several times, and published a series of books, becoming a classic that everyone is familiar with. At the beginning of the 21st century, this work was scattered from the Fu family, circulated in Xiangjiang, and once disappeared for nearly 20 years, and now, it has returned to the market again.

After Fu Baoshi entered the Shu War of Resistance, he repeatedly painted pictures of ladies, giving the people in the paintings high purity sentiments, and the beautiful people he created that were independent like Luoshen became his spiritual sustenance in the time of war and chaos.
According to Mr. Ip Chung-ho's research, Fu Baoshi's work on female painting began in December 1940, although he had been involved in figure painting by chance when he was young. The creation of Fu Baoshi's "You Chun Shi Nu" series, with "Yang Liu" as the main element, renders the willow with a large piece of warm green, and freezes the young woman in the situation of the willow tree draped and the willow tree shaded by the willow tree, fixed in the moment of "slowly lifting the jade thread skirt", the character depiction is exquisite, the fluttering and flying clothes are like flowing water, and the rough painting method of the willow and the earth slope forms a delicate and extensive contrast, deducing a moving picture of the spring tour.
