Born in 248 AD, he was the 11th king of the Goguryeo Dynasty of Joseon. His original name was Youju, nicknamed Jiaoyu, the son of King Yanyou of the Mountain. He succeeded to the throne in 227 AD, and after succeeding to the throne, he first stabilized the various tribes and then established contacts with Wei and Eastern Wu respectively.
