Zhang Qian's friend Shu Ying recalled that in 1956, Chen Yi took Zhang Qian to Guangzhou for recuperation because he was overworked.
At that time, the couple happened to be working in Guangzhou, so they received Chen Yi and his wife. Once, they were in the hotel asking Chen Yi to eat dog meat. Halfway through eating, Zhang Qian went to the university to seriously study "Chu Ci". Because I want to shorten the cultural difference with Chen Yi.
After Zhang Qian left, Chen Yi suddenly asked Shu Ying's husband: "Old Sun, do you have Chinese cigarettes with you?" ”
Subsequently, Shu Ying's husband took out his own Chinese cigarette and handed it to Chen Yi. However, after Chen Yi got the cigarette, he did not smoke one, but took all the cigarettes out of the cigarette box and put them into an iron box he carried with him.

This also happens to show their love for each other. Zhang Qian restricted smoking for the sake of Chen Yi's body. And Chen Yi loved Zhang Qian, and also knew that she was for her own good, and did not have any dissatisfaction with her restrictions.

However, not long after these words were spoken, Chen Yi began to frequently entertain friends again. However, Zhang Qian still loves Chen Yi'en as before.
Fulfill your last wishes
In 1971, Chen Yi was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and Zhang Qian did not abandon it, staying in front of Chen Yi's bedside day and night to take care of it. At this time, she also coughed up blood from time to time. However, for Chen Yi, she still carefully cared for Chen Yi despite her own body.
On January 6, 1972, Chen Yi died of illness. Zhang Qian tried her best to control herself and not let herself cry, but the tears on her face still couldn't stop flowing. Watching her lover leave, her heart was broken.

On January 10, Chen Yi's memorial service was held at Babaoshan Mountain, and Chairman Mao, who was unwell, suddenly decided to attend.
Seeing Zhang Qian, who looked sad, Chairman Mao held her hand tightly and said emotionally:
"Chen Yi is a good comrade!"
Subsequently, Chairman Mao choked up and said, "I have come to mourn him..." In the solemn mourning, Chairman Mao bowed three times to Chen Yi's body.
Shortly after Chen Yi's memorial service, Zhang Qian's health deteriorated sharply, and she coughed up blood more and more frequently.
Ye Jianying knew, and immediately arranged for Zhang Qian to be admitted to the 301 Hospital and asked the doctor to do a detailed examination for her.
Soon, the doctor found cancer cells from the blood that Zhang Qian coughed up. At this time, only about 70 days after Chen Yi's death, Zhang Qian had not yet come out of the pain of losing her lover, and the doctor did not dare to rush to tell her the news.
In the end, Ye Jianying decided to personally tell Zhang Qian the bad news. However, after seeing the weak Zhang Qian, Ye Jianying really couldn't bear to say it. However, as smart as Zhang Qian, seeing Ye Jianying's embarrassed expression, she had already guessed the result.

Before Chen Yi died, he always wanted to sort out his own poetry manuscripts. In November 1971, when he was seriously ill, Chen Yi also discussed with Zhang Qian how to sort it out. In the end, they decided to compile it according to the principle of compiling it into a collection every month and year.
Due to his serious illness, Chen Yi decided to put this matter aside first and sort it out when he was better. Unexpectedly, this wish was not realized in the end. Therefore, Zhang Qian decided that she must help Chen Yi realize her wishes in her lifetime.
Under the torment of illness, Zhang Qianqiang supported her increasingly weak body and began to tidy up.

In the hospital room, she flipped through various poems. Some are newspaper clippings published in newspapers, some are copied and preserved by Chen Yi himself, and some are copied by Zhang Qian herself. Some are already printed brochures, and some are just a few pieces of handwritten paper.
Of these, a large part is still being revised, and many more are not even in chronological order. Zhang Qian could only investigate and decide one by one.
For example, on the way to Yan'an, Chen Yi left a dozen poems, none of which were marked with a time. Zhang Qian turned over a small notebook left by Chen Yi, looked at the marching mileage recorded on it, and the name of the camp and place, and carefully deduced.
In order to ensure accuracy, she also personally visited many old comrades who had worked in relevant areas and were familiar with traffic conditions.
In addition, she also needs to figure out the quotations and allusions of some of Chen Yi's poems. To this end, she read a large number of ancient history books. Including the "Zizhi Tongjian", the Twenty-four Histories and so on. On her desk, there are often books such as "The Law of Words", "Notes on the Collection of Chu Ci", and "Li Taibai Collection" for reading at any time.

In mid-March 1972, Zhang Qian underwent surgery in the hospital.
After only 3 days of rest, Zhang Qian, who was lying on the hospital bed, asked her son Chen Haosu to read Chen Yi's poems to herself.
A week later, she got out of bed to read the manuscript. Due to the good recovery from the operation, Zhang Qian began to work hard. Every day, as soon as she finished eating, she sat at the table and read the manuscript for several hours.
Zhang Qian became increasingly emaciated and tired as a result. Seeing that Zhang Qian was so tired, the doctor really couldn't bear it, so he advised her to pay attention to rest, but Zhang Qian smiled and said: "My physical strength and energy are OK, I will pay attention, but now I have to work hard!" ”
At this time, she was racing against time and competing with the disease for time, and she was afraid that she would not be able to fulfill Chen Yi's last wish in the end.
In the end, after more than nine months of hard work, Zhang Qian first selected 100 poems and compiled them into a "Selected Poems of Chen Yi". All of these poems were copied by his son Chen Haosu. Zhang Qian also breathed a long sigh of relief, and in her lifetime, she could be regarded as completing her first goal.

During the process of sorting out Chen Yi's poems, Zhang Qian would often suddenly lose her mind and look at the distance in a daze.
This stop, it may be a few minutes, it may be ten minutes.
During this time, she should have remembered the good times she had spent with Chen Yi. Therefore, sometimes, Zhang Qian will suddenly laugh. Sometimes, there are tears in the eyes.
On March 20, 1974, Zhang Qian died of lung cancer. She followed her lover Chen Yi without regret.
