In June this year, the Grand Canyon Scenic Area of Xiaozhai, Eighteen-Hole, Deram In Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province, was identified as a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot. They are the first 5A tourist attraction in western Hunan Province. Listening to this news, I realized that the Eighteen-Hole Village in Huayuan and the Dwarf Village Wonder Scenic Spot in Jishou were continuous.
The Dagu Scenic Area of Xiaozhai, Eighteen-Hole, and Deram Canyon is also within the park scope of the Xiangxi Global Geopark. They are also examples of the integration of karst geological ecology and ethnic minority cultures.
In the dwarf village wonder scenic spot, the eye-catching physical evidence that records the people of this heaven and earth is the road and the bridge.
Low-walled winding road
According to the information provided by the Xiangxi Prefecture Geopark Management Office, the Xiaozhai Park is located in Jishou City in the Xiangxi Global Geopark, with a total area of 198 square kilometers, which is one of the most exciting, steepest and most dreamy areas in the Wuling Mountains. The park not only has unique natural landscapes such as deram grand canyon and flowing yarn waterfall, but also cultural landscapes such as engineering wonders such as the Dwarf Zhai Bridge and the De rammed Miao Village. Mountains and water, people and bridges, mist and canyons, pastoral gardens and villages are integrated, constituting a canyon landscape in which humanities and nature coexist, magnificent and exquisite. Since ancient times, people here have been trying their best to build bridges and roads. Gradually, winding roads snaked out of the mountains. Built in 1936, the Dwarf Zhai Highway created the spectacle of the first highway overpass in modern Chinese history. Stroll along the cliff glass boardwalk, dwarf village bridge, the wonders of the century-old road bridge, the thousand-year-old Miaozhai style, and the scenery of the 10,000-year-old canyon.
The builders of the past and the present, here the collision of wisdom, has created one miracle after another for China and the world's bridge construction.
According to the "Unity Daily", the "zigzag" winding mountain road under the Dwarf Zhai Bridge and on the cliff is the most dangerous section of the Xiangchuan Highway. The road climbs a slope with a vertical height of 440 meters within a horizontal distance of less than 100 meters. At that time, the designer used 13 "zigzag" turns and an overpass to build this 6.2-kilometer road.
In Nengtan Village, Xiexi Town, Luxi County, more than 70 kilometers away from the Dwarf Zhai Bridge, there is a Nengtan Suspension Bridge, the first suspension bridge in China designed and built in 1937.
On March 31, 2012, more than 1,000 builders overcame all difficulties and achieved four original results of new structure, new technology, new equipment and new materials, and successfully built the suspension bridge with the largest canyon span in the world today. This extra-large suspension bridge with a span of 1176 meters and a vertical height of 355 meters between the two towers has pioneered a new structural system separating the tower and the beam, avoiding over-excavation of the mountain, and integrating the bridge with the magnificent and beautiful peaks on both sides of the canyon, becoming a bright new business card of the dwarf village wonder scenic spot.
Interestingly, there are two villages on both sides of the Bridge, one called Family Village and the other called Happiness Village. Local villagers say that the Dwarf Zhai Bridge is the thoroughfare for their family's happiness.
When I came here last summer, I found that there was a farmhouse restaurant in the scenic area, and there were nests of wild bees that had been making their home in the cracks in the doorway for more than thirty years, and they could harvest different amounts of wild honey every year. This time, I took a friend to see it, but I was told that because I wanted to repel mosquitoes for diners, I ordered more mosquito coils, and the bees had flown away. I was a little embarrassed, but the hostess said: "Some guests are afraid of bees, and it is better to leave." ”
