Beijing Miaofeng Mountain Bird Watching - Unlock grey berlault, brown-headed and collared rock wren

author:Aidan's Natural Notes

On Friday night, when I was planning my weekend birding destination, I learned that my bird watching friends were going to Mt. Myoho. The altitude of Mt. Myoho is above 1100 meters, so some high-altitude birds will roost there. Originally, my parents did not plan to go there, but they found the "good news" that Miaofeng Mountain would be closed at the end of November every year, and decided to take me to take a trip while the mountain was not yet closed. Grey Berlau and the Collar rock wren, which are usually rare birds, became my main targets.

We arrived at Myohosan at 8:30, and as a result, because there was snow on the mountain, the road was still frozen, for safety reasons, we were not allowed to drive in, and it took a long time to walk up from the gate, we had to give up and try our luck somewhere else, I don't mention how lost it is....

Driving along the road came to a clearing, a few cars were parked, and a small road seemed to lead to the mountains. When Dad asked, they said that they could climb along this path to the viewing platform of Miaofeng Mountain, which was only about four or five kilometers away. I jumped up happily, and finally had another chance to add new ones.

It was almost 11 o'clock when we climbed to the platform, and I also went to my good friend, who told me that he had just photographed Grey Berau. We went to the place where we had just found it, but we heard only the distant cries of Grey Berlault, but we could never find it.

We decided to change birdwatching spots and chatted while pedaling the muddy road to another hill. Halfway through, I suddenly heard an unpleasant cry coming from the front, "zha, zha, zha~" from the front. A white figure flew up from the treetops in the distance, "It's Grey Berlau!" ”。 We spread our legs and ran up the hill, running up the hill, our feet covered in mud. We slowed down and looked carefully. Suddenly, the figure flew up again and landed on a tree close to us. "Click", the shutter sounded in unison, and I recorded a photo of Grey Berau with my good friend.

Greyberault led us up the hill and flew away. As soon as we stopped, there was a commotion in the dwarf pine trees in front of us. Swamp..., no! Brown-headed tits! It's a small group of brown-headed eating pine cones, which is a rare tit!

Unlocking two new varieties at once excites me. We continued our search on the mountain, hoping to spot the collared rock wrens that inhabited the area. Suddenly, the cries of the leading rock wren came, and everyone followed the sound together, but they only heard its sound and did not see its birds. After a few minutes, suddenly a small bird flew to the rock in front of us with a chirp, "Lead rock wren! It's so pretty! The sound of "machine guns" sounded again.

A favorite place to stay

Unfortunately, my good friend was unable to record the collar rock wren because of the angle, which was the biggest regret of this trip to Myoho Mountain.
