【Taishan Bird Science 90】Berau family - Grey Burrow

Morphological characteristics are large Berau, with a body length of 24 to 27 cm. The whole resembles a wedge-tailed Burrow, but the tail is not wedge-shaped and shorter. The male resembles a wedge-tailed Burrow , but the waist is white , and the white wing spots are divided into upper and lower parts when the wings are folded, and the wing spots are smaller when unfolded, and the outermost pair of tail feathers is all white. Females and juveniles are brownish in color.

Its habitats are mainly inhabited by open sparse forests, forest edges, shrublands with few trees, or grasslands. Alone or in pairs, the habit is like a wedge-tailed Burrow. There is a habit of hanging prey on branches for storage. Recorded in the 1980s in the Taishan area, it is a winter migratory bird. It has not been found in recent years.
