Artist and model Ivy Love Getty has injected an element of haute couture into the idea of a city hall wedding.

According to Vogue, the great-granddaughter of the late billionaire Paul Getty and photographer Tobias Alexander Engel married saturday on the ornate steps of San Francisco City Hall. Getty wore a glittering Haute Couture dress designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, covered with fragments of mirrors.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi officiated at the star-studded wedding, attended by actress Anya Taylor Joy (bridesmaid), singer Olivia Rodrigo and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

In an interview with Vogue, Getty said, "It's like everything I've dreamed of, or more." "So, when something so magical turns into reality because you've thought about it and actually didn't think it would come to fruition, it's a crazy thing."

Getty's wedding style choices refer to her grandmother, who raised her, who, like Getty's father, died in 2020. Embroidered veils and tiaras, Christian Louboutin's shoes and Getty's grandmother's jewelry are the last strokes of the bridal dress. The rotunda with Persian carpets in the hall was another tribute to her grandmother.

The bridesmaids wore gray lilac Maison Margiela satin dresses. Even Getty's pet chihuahua, Blue, dressed up at the wedding at Pelosi's request.

The couple's union culminates in a luxurious, event-filled weekend wedding that includes a picnic lunch with Getty dressed in Alexander McQueen's classic gown.

The festivities included the "British Invasion Mod Party" at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Thursday night (where attendees were reportedly asked to show covid-19 vaccination cards). Event planner Stanlee Gatti, who transformed the space into a silver nightclub, recalled the 1968 sci-fi movie Barbarella. Dressed in iconic '60s boots, sequins and fluffy hairstyles, guests danced to Mark Ronson's DJ music and Earth, Wind & Fire's performances.

Getty was the dressed chameleon of the night: designed by Carrie Goldberg of CLG Creative, the oil heiress wore Emanuel Ungaro's vintage dress with Stephen Russell's coral and diamond earrings, Emilio Pucci's vintage dress and D'accori shoes. In an interview with Vogue, Goldberg said the costumes were referenced to '60s fashion icons Mary Quant, Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton.

Goldberg told the media: "We agree that nothing should be done with caution and that we should focus on amplifying Ivy's inspired atmosphere of the '60s."
