Disney Heiress: Buffett's money should go to the government, not charity

Buffett recently announced another $4.1 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway (416304.01, -2829.99, -0.68%) stock, having completed half of all of his stake goal, disney (176.57, -1.78, -1.00%) heiress Abigail Disney posted on social media praising Buffett's character but disagreeing with his approach of giving his wealth to charity rather than the government.

Abigail Disney wrote: "I think WB (Warren Buffett) is a good guy with a good heart. But much of that money should be used more fairly and responsibly by governments. ”

Considering that Disney just published an article in The Atlantic this month criticizing Buffett's views, her disagreements with Buffett are not surprising. In the article, she wrote, "The government is bad and cannot entrust money to it," and it is this perception that drives billionaires to work to minimize their tax burden.

Abigail Disney, the granddaughter of Disney co-founder Roy Disney, has no position at the company and holds only a small stake. She revealed two years ago that she was worth $120 million.

She also revealed in a recent article that when she inherited a large family fortune at the age of 21, her advisers told her that government officials would waste her money.

However, Disney's perspective has been changing ever since. In The Atlantic, she questioned how billionaires can rest assured when their wealth is built on a social structure that keeps millions "in constant panic" about food, shelter, health care and other basic needs.
