From November 4 to 9, the National Climate Center's assessment report on the strong cold wave event and its impact showed that the cold wave event had the characteristics of large cooling range, wide range of rain and snow, and strong extremes, with 1.01 million square kilometers of land cooling exceeding 16 °C, and the comprehensive intensity index ranked fourth in history.
Along with the strong cold wave, there is also rain and snow that covers almost the entire eastern region. The assessment report shows that the snow in the northeast and north China is thick and extreme.
Among them, snowfall mainly occurs in North China, Northeast China, Huanghuai and other places, and in northern North China, eastern Inner Mongolia, western Jilin and other places, there are heavy snowstorms and extraordinarily large blizzards locally.
The first snow day in Beijing was 23 days earlier than usual, the sixth earliest since 1961. The depth of snow in northern and eastern China, eastern Inner Mongolia, western Jilin and western Liaoning exceeds 10 cm, and the local area is 30 to 50 cm. Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and other places also have frozen rain weather.
In Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Tianjin and other places, 151 national weather stations have exceeded the historical extreme of November in terms of daily precipitation.
