After "Ju Dou", "Big Red Lantern Hanging High" and "Hero", Zhang Yimou will start his fourth "Olympic bid" journey. It is reported that Zhang Yimou's film "On the Cliff" will represent Chinese mainland in the 94th Academy Award for Best International Film (formerly the Best Foreign Language Film Award).

Zhang Yimou's Ju Dou was nominated for an Oscar in 1991 and was the first Chinese-language film to be nominated for an Oscar. Later, Zhang Yimou "bid for the Olympic Games" with "Big Red Lantern Hanging High" in 1992 and "Hero" in 2003.

It is reported that the 94th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on February 27 next year.
