Vecchio City have already negotiated with Frank Lampard about their management vacancies, but are also interested in Dean Smith (Dean Smith was fired by Aston Villa on Sunday) and Southampton manager Ralph Hassonschuttle. After Saturday's 2-1 win over Brentford, The Canary pulled the trigger on Daniel Fauck in their first Premier League win of the season.

The timing of Faq's dismissal was a surprise for some, but it left the club with new momentum to enter international competitions ahead of what will be a very challenging season in the last six months of the season. Norwich are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table, scoring just five points in their first 11 games. They also scored just five goals – two of them on the weekend – and conceded 26, making them easily the worst goal gap in the division.

The speedy appointment of a replacement seems to be a top priority, and various reports indicate that Norwich has placed three successors on the shortlist. The first is Frank Lampard, who is the favorite person to take over from Carroll Road Bookmakers. The Guardian said he had tentative talks with Norwich on Monday and any upcoming offer would bring the 43-year-old back to management after being sacked by Chelsea for more than nine months. On his resume, he also spent a year in Derby County where he led derby to the champions play-off finals.

Dean Smith is another name in the frame. Sky Sports said he was attractive to the Canary board because he was maintaining experience in the Premier League at Aston Villa (who fired him on Sunday), adding that he had all the skills needed to succeed in East Anglia.

Meanwhile, one outside contender, Ralph Hassonhüttel of Southampton, is apparently still employed and is doing many of the things that are considered good jobs. Norwich's board is said to have "great admiration" for the Austrian, but also admitted it would be difficult to draw him away. In fact, there is no indication that Ralph Hasson hüttel will leave Southampton, which has been in shape in recent weeks.
