Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists United remain determined to keep Jesse Jesse Lingard at Old Trafford for the longer.
The England midfielder's contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season, and the 28-year-old can discuss free transfers with rival clubs as early as January.
Manchester United academy player Jesse Lingard had a strong performance on west Ham United's loan spell last season and will return to London Stadium with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in a Premier League clash on Sunday.
Jesse Lingard is linked to next summer's transfer, but head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists United are still struggling to link him to his new contract.
"He has his contract left for the season and the club is talking to him and his father," Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.
"We also see him as a future Manchester United player. Jesse came back to us after a wonderful time at West Ham.
"He showed his qualities, he's back in England and he's scoring for England.
"We really want to see the best of Jesse this season, we want to see him, we support him, we want to keep him with us. He's a complete red man. ”

Diogo Dalot only made his second appearance on Tuesday, with Wan-Bissaka's red card, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists the Portuguese full-back can now accelerate his progress at Manchester United.
"Our attitude is as you'd expect; focused, a little disappointed but not too pessimistic," Solskjaer said.
"You know, it's a setback, we have to do better, we have five games to get the 10, 12 points we need. It wasn't the beginning we wanted, but it was a good team and we could bounce back again.
"Of course, Diogo had a really good summer and he was called up for the European Championship. He excelled in Portugal's under-21 youth team and had one season he learned a lot in Milan. He stays healthy, and that's a big deal.
"He has some qualities and we're trying to take advantage of those qualities more and more." For years, we weren't here to loan players.

"We now feel that to get the most out of Edinson's abilities this season, we need to make him 100% healthy, not force him.
"We have a strong team that can cope with having to get the players to heal without risking any further injuries.
"I think Edinson had a huge impact because he was that type of player and person. He can't wait to come back and he's really trying to get back on the pitch. ”
