The ending is often either sad or happy, with few exceptions. However, it is difficult to have an "absolute" in this world, so some endings, even if they are not "sad and happy", can still be read from the perspective of different groups. The end of the Sui Dynasty was like this.
Those of us who are familiar with the three hundred poems of the Tang Dynasty can be described as fascinated by the rule of Zhenguan and the prosperity of kaiyuan, and we are eager to experience it ourselves through the past. Therefore, for many descendants, the Sui Dynasty collapsed, and the faint Sui Emperor stepped down, and this ending was naturally timely and smooth.
However, the Sui Emperor was no longer the emperor, and it was indeed the beginning of the nightmare of others. In the two years from Yang Guang's loss of power to the official change of name "Li", the three sui dynasty royal sons were pushed to the cusp of the storm.
In his later years, the Sui Emperor was completely worthy of his title of "Emperor Of Darkness". And what he got was not only the resentment of the people, but also the dissatisfaction of the courtiers, and even the opposition. In the twelfth year of the Sui Dynasty (616), the Sui Emperor, whether they liked it or not, issued a paper order for them to follow him to Danyang (present-day Nanjing, Jiangsu), in preparation for the formal relocation of the capital here.
As a result, even the Sui Emperor himself did not expect that under the impetus of the situation, Danyang had become his own burial place. Just a few months after Yang Guang left for Danyang from Luoyang, Luoyang was heavily surrounded by the Wagang army.
At the end of the following year, li Yuan, a "rising star", directly attacked the capital city of Daxingcheng and installed Yang You, the grandson of the Sui Emperor, as the new emperor, as Emperor Gong of Sui. The Sui Emperor, who was still intoxicated in the south by sound and color dogs and horses, was unilaterally "honored" as the Emperor Taishang by the people in Daxing City.
The Powerful Li Family in the North had such a big disrespectful move, and the people who still surrounded the Sui Emperor could not hold back. In March of the fourteenth year of Daye (618 CE), Yu Wenhua and a group of military generals strangled the Sui Emperor and installed Emperor Sui's nephew Yang Hao on the throne.
Another grandson of the Sui Emperor, Yang Tong, was elected emperor by Yuan Wendu, Emperor Wuyi, and others in the eastern capital of Luoyang, that is, Emperor Tai (also known as "Emperor Tai"). Therefore, for a while, there was no Sui Emperor in the world, but there were three sui emperors' blood relatives who became emperors in various places.
However, these three emperors were far less powerful than the Sui Emperor at the beginning. They were all put on the throne by the crowds everywhere. As far as the world is concerned, the three of them are just puppets, and they only have the share of obedience. Yang Haoben was the concubine of King Xiao of Qin in the Sui Dynasty and had a noble status. However, when he was young, his mother Cui Shi poisoned her husband, King Xiao of Qin, and was executed by Emperor Wen of Sui, and Yang Hao was also implicated. During the reign of the Sui Emperor, he was also impeached for "communicating with the princes (i.e., the Yuwen family)", which led to his dismissal.
In the fourteenth year of Daye (618), Yu Wenhua and at the beginning of the assassination of the emperor prepared to support Yang Xiu, the king of Shu of the Sui Dynasty, as the new emperor, but they did not get the support of the people, but forced them to kill Yang Xiu the King of Shu, Yang Huan the King of Qi, Yang Qian the King of Yan, and their relatives. And Yang Hao, because of his friendship with the Yuwen family, not only saved his life, but also became the ultimate puppet emperor candidate. Unfortunately, in the end, Yu Culture and the loss of power, Yang Hao's chess piece still made a funeral for the dead Sui.
In Luoyang, Yang Tong, who "called out" Yang Hao, although there were many old ministers who supported him and also recruited Li Mi, he still became Wang Shichong's marionette. In April of the second year of Emperor Tai (619), Wang Shichong's friends began to persuade Yang Tong to give Wang Shichong the throne, but Yang Tong, who had always been generous to others, firmly rejected this proposal. But his arms could not twist his thighs, and Wang Shichong finally took the throne.
Yang Tong, who had gone from puppet emperor to Wang Shichong's prisoner, was killed by Wang Shichong two months later.
And the rest of Yang You, in Li Yuan's hands, was not good. Yang You had been intelligent and extraordinary since childhood, so when Li Yuan regarded him as a puppet emperor, he did not want the Yang family's world to really change his surname. But Li Yuan also put on a look of respect for him, not because Li Yuan really did not want to win the world, but because he felt that the time was not ripe enough. Therefore, Yang You, who was thirteen years old at the time, actually did not wait long, and after 177 days of serving as emperor, he was pulled down from the throne by Li Yuan, who was full of confidence, and became an idle "idle man" in the capital city with the name of "Duke of Guogong".
However, compared with Yang Haohe and Dong, Yang You's final ending is more decent. In the second year of Wu De (619), that is, one year after Yang Youchan's concession, the news came from the capital that Yang You had died of illness, and his son Yang Xingji inherited the title. Although there are also rumors that Yang You was killed by Li Yuan, compared with Yang Hao and Yang Tong, the puppet emperor Yang You is still more like the "last emperor" after all.
In the eyes of many of us, the last emperor of the Sui Dynasty was the Sui Emperor, and the names of Yang Tong, Yang Hao, and Yang You are rarely mentioned. Indeed, like other Sui Dynasty clans, they were drawn into the turmoil of the late Sui Dynasty and became the "lubricant" for the change of eras. "Nameless" is their end, their sorrow, and a corner of the Sui Dynasty.
