On October 1, 2021, the "Great Love Primrose Chunhui - Xia Tonghao's Centenary Birthday Donation Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" opened in the exhibition hall on the first and second floor of the Exhibition Hall of the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum. This year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and coincides with the centenary of the birth of Comrade Xia Tonghao, a revolutionary cadre of the Party and a selfless donor who has made great contributions to the collection of the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum. Comrade Xia Tonghao, as an outstanding communist party member and a senior cadre of the army, under the cultivation of the party, not only made outstanding achievements in the cause of liberation, carried forward the pioneering spirit in the modernization of the army, but also carried forward the spirit of dedication in inheriting traditional culture, and made valuable contributions to making fine works of art into social wealth. Through the re-combing and research of more than 100 works donated by Xia Lao, this exhibition selects 90 works of the Ming and Qing dynasties and modern times, rediscovers their historical value and artistic value from the aspects of painting style, painter achievements, and painting history, and displays them again to the audience, so that they can shine with new brilliance, and use their precious value to reflect the spirit of selfless dedication and the character of high style and bright festival of an old party member and veteran who single-handedly protected the country's excellent culture and selfless dedication, and presented them to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party.
This exhibition is based on the selection of 100 fine calligraphy and paintings donated by Comrade Xia Tonghao, a senior cadre of the Nanjing Military Region, to the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum in 1985 and 60 calligraphy and painting works donated for the second time in 1991. In the "Ming and Qing Dynasty Treasures" section, there are 30 treasures such as Zhao Qian, Wang Duo, Lan Ying, Zhang Fu, Zhang Ruitu of the Ming Dynasty, Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, and Wang Yi of the "Four Kings" of the Qing Dynasty, Wu Hong of the "Eight Houses of Jinling", Huang Shen of the "Eight Monsters of Yangzhou", and Zhao Zhiqian and He Shaoji, famous calligraphers; in the "Modern Picking Up" section, there are 60 treasures such as Wu Changshuo, Ren Bonian, Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, Pan Tianshou, and Li Keyan among modern and modern people. In the section of Xia Tonghao's personal historical materials exhibition, taking the relevant objects and materials of Xia Tonghao's work, life and study as clues, it shows the hard and simple life style of an old party member and veteran soldier and the beautiful character of inheriting culture, and his noble spirit of selfless dedication is reflecting with the journey of the centenary of the founding of the party. This exhibition takes the history of painting as the context to show the changes in the painting style of ming and modern art, excavates the historical value and artistic value of the works donated by Comrade Xia Tonghao, further activates the fine art works in the collection, deepens the spiritual connotation that is connected with the Jiangsu cultural context, and highlights the collection characteristics of the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum.
Zhengrong years are treasured, and a hundred years of literary heart is primrose. From the unique lyrical spiritual and full of ming and qing treasures, to the modern masterpieces that change in style and keep pace with the times, the 90 art classics collected in this exhibition not only present people with a thousand meteorological "beautiful history", but also show a magnificent and magnificent "picture of the times". Inspired by Comrade Xia Tonghao's spirit of not forgetting his original heart and loving selflessly, the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum adheres to the artistic concept of educating people with beauty, running the heart with beauty, and promoting aspirations with beauty, inherits fine art products, carries forward the spirit of the times, shows cultural self-confidence, condenses the majestic spiritual strength of the new era in the cause of fine arts, presents artistic praise for the centenary of the founding of the party, and inherits Mr. Xia Tonghao's "great love primrose".
