Kinmen Shuitou Settlement is close to Shuitou Wharf, and when you first arrive at this quiet village, the first thing you see is the towering Deyue Tower.
The name of Deyue Lou is taken from the "near water building platform first get the moon", its owner Huang Brilliant once made a living in Nanyang, the shrewd Huang Brilliant was born to do business material, and after earning a lot of money, he returned to his hometown to build a big house.
Built to defend against pirates, deyue tower is the most representative gun tower in Kinmen, built in the 1930s, with a height of about 11 meters, a total of four floors on the ground and one basement. The combination of Chinese and Western styles is refreshing, and its underground tunnels lead to adjacent Western-style buildings.
Villagers call deyuelou "Western-style Building", but its architecture is also covered with elements of Chinese culture, and the inside of the house is full of Chinese-style furniture, which has the smell of wearing a dress outside the belly pocket.
The Western-style building and the ancient house in the Shuitou settlement are perfectly harmonious and live next to each other, which is a typical architectural style of the western-style building and the ancient house in the overseas Chinese township of southern Fujian.
The villagers of Shuitou Settlement proudly said: "There are shuitou rich, no shuitoucuo", which means that there may be many villages richer than Shuitou, but there are not many villages that are more beautiful than Shuitou.
