According to Xinhua Daily, on the morning of 14 January, the farewell ceremony for the remains of Comrade Wang Minsheng, an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, former secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal CPC Committee, and former director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, was held in Suzhou. Comrade Wang Minsheng died in Suzhou on January 12, 2021 at the age of 87 due to ineffective medical treatment.

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, the Provincial Government, and the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference sent wreaths to express their condolences. According to the official resume, Wang Minsheng was born in Xishan, Jiangsu Province in August 1934, and after joining the work in 1951, he served as a grain clerk in Liucang Township, Xizhang District, Wuxi County, and later served as the secretary of the Party Committee of Yangshi Commune, the deputy secretary of the Wuxi County Party Committee, the deputy director of the County Revolutionary Committee, and in 1973 he became the secretary of the Wuxi County Party Committee and the director of the County Revolutionary Committee.

According to reports, when Wang Minsheng was deputy secretary and secretary of the Wuxi County CPC Committee, he vigorously engaged in farmland water conservancy infrastructure construction, vigorously grasped the high yield and stable yield of agriculture, and won the National Science Conference Award for the "Drainage and Irrigation Channels Under The Gray Land" project. In 1984, Wang Minsheng was transferred to the Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Planning and Economic Commission, and at the same time served as the Director of the Provincial Township Enterprise Administration Bureau, and in 1989 he was transferred to the Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, and later the Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, and continued to serve as the Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee.

According to Xinhua Daily, when Wang Minsheng was the secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and the director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, he promoted the implementation of the central reform and opening up policy in Suzhou, promoted export-oriented economic development, and accelerated the construction of development zones; established the concept of "attaching equal importance to economic development and protection of ancient cities", tapped the economic potential of the county, deepened the reform of township enterprises, and made important contributions to Suzhou's economic and social development.

In 1994, Wang Minsheng stepped down as secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and continued to serve as vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress until his retirement in August 2004.
