[Global Times reporter Roch] The American Heinz Company recently released the world's first "Mars Ketchup". According to CNN reported on the 8th, the tomato that made this ketchup was cultivated by scientists under simulated Martian conditions.

A team of 14 scientists reportedly grew the tomatoes for nine months at a university lab in Florida, where they simulated martian environments such as soil, temperature and water. Former American astronaut Mike Massimino said that ketchup is the standard condiment for dehydrated food in space, but the significance of "Mars ketchup" is far more than taste, and this 2-year experiment also proves the possibility of long-term cultivation of food on Mars.

It is reported that the research team and Maximino will taste this "Mars ketchup" for the first time on the 10th. Recently, after harvesting the first planted peppers, the International Space Station hosted a Tortilla party where ketchup could be the next guest. U.S. astronaut Shane Kimbrough said they were discussing sending tomato planting experiments to the space station.
