The classic national opera "Daughter of the Party" was created and performed by the Opera Troupe of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (now Chinese the People's Liberation Army Cultural and Labor Troupe) in 1991 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, adapted from the film of the same name "Daughter of the Party" (1958, screenwriter Lin Shan), which is an important achievement in the performance of revolutionary historical themes in the 1990s and is one of the most influential national classic operas in China. Since its premiere in 1991, it has been performed hundreds of times and has been well received. Classic songs in the play, such as "There is a shining star in the sky", "Spring is full of homes", "Rhododendrons" and so on are widely sung. From July 13 to 18, 2021, this classic national opera returned, and "Daughter of the Party" was staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

The classic national opera "Daughter of the Party" (rearranged and newly produced) was included in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China Stage Art Creation Project" project, and the "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China Excellent Stage Art Exhibition" project co-sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The National Centre for the Performing Arts edition adheres to the principle of "shouzheng innovation" and is presented on the basis of the premiere version. Conducted by conductor Li Xincao, directed by Wang Jun, former director of the General Political Opera Troupe, starring with soprano Lei Jia and baritone singer Liao Changyong, and wonderful performances with outstanding artists from the National Centre for the Performing Arts Chorus, Orchestra and Central Chinese Orchestra, all cast members worked together to pay tribute to the classics and sing affectionately for the centenary birthday of the party.
