Coinciding with the latest model of the domestic "China Aegis" series, the 052d modified guided missile destroyer, which is about to enter service, a group of ultra-close photos of this type of destroyer appeared on the Internet in a very timely manner. As shown in the figure, this close-up from its cabin part shows us a good look at the details of the 052d modified destroyer, including the power system flue, the new shipborne long-range warning radar and other important systems.
If you look at it from the appearance alone, the biggest change of the 052D modified destroyer compared with the previous mass-produced 052D is that it is equipped with a new long-range warning radar shaped like a "fly shoot". As you can see, the antenna of this "fly shoot" is very large and complex. Since most shield ships' phased array radars cannot be turned on for a long time, the usual air-to-air detection is carried out by such warning radars.
It has been argued that the new long-range warning radar, like the 517 series (i.e., Yagi radar) used in the previous model, operates in the meter-wave band. Therefore, this "fly shoot" has the advantages of long detection distance and anti-stealth. Compared with the "Yagi drying rack" in the picture above, the antenna aperture of the new long-range warning radar has been greatly strengthened. At the same time, the truss antenna structure also makes this new model look very strong.
In addition to the new warning radar, the various details of the flue part of this destroyer are also well displayed in front of everyone. The two large black cylinders in the picture are the infrared suppression devices of the exhaust channels of the ship's gas turbines. This equipment can effectively reduce the infrared thermal radiation characteristics of the high-temperature exhaust gas generated by the gas turbine through various means, which is very helpful for improving the infrared stealth performance of surface ships.
Located on the hangar of the stern helicopter, the Hongqi-10 close defense missile is one of the standard close defenses of the "China Aegis" since the 052d type guided missile destroyer. This missile is very similar to the U.S. Navy's famous "Ram", both of which use an infrared + anti-radiation composite guidance model. Together with the 730/1130 close defense gun installed in front of the bridge, it formed the most reliable terminal anti-missile defense system on the "China Aegis".
Of all the improvements that are visible to the naked eye, another one to highlight is the 052d modified helicopter deck after that lengthening. It has been pointed out that this change is mainly to adapt to the preparations made by the future Z-20 anti-submarine helicopter on the ship. Overall, the comprehensive performance of this class of ships, including air defense and anti-potential internals, will be much better than the 052d type.
