In 1987, the descendants of the Pan family wanted to build a house, and the economy was tight, so they had to sell the ancestral "tycoon throwing pot". Xu Sihai wasted no time in buying it back at a high price of 30,000 yuan, almost using all of his family's savings. Some people want to buy 70,000 US dollars, breaking the record of the Royal Museum of England for 20,000 US dollars to buy a Ming Dynasty spring pot collected by the famous gentleman Chu Nanqiang of Yixing for 20,000 US dollars, but xu shi refused with the idea that "when the treasure reaches the collector's hand, its price is converted into a cultural value, and it is not sold for a million US dollars".
Xu Sihai, who worked at the Shanghai Public Utilities School, devoted all his spare time to collecting purple sand artwork and making purple sand pots, during which he met the famous painter and purple sand collector Mr. Tang Yun. With the encouragement of Tang Yun, Xu Sihai resigned from public office in 1984 and went to work at the Second Purple Sand Factory in Yixing.
