General Patton art director Gil Parondo died at the age of 95

Spanish set designer and two-time Oscar winner for Best Art Direction Gil Parrondo recently passed away at the age of 95.

The Spanish Film Academy announced Gil Parondo's death on Saturday night, without revealing the specific cause of death.

Palondo's resume includes more than 200 films, including "General Patton", "The Secret History of the Russian Palace", "Doctor Zhivago", "The Battle of Britain" and other film history classics.

He has worked with legendary Hollywood directors such as Anthony Mann, Stanley Kubrick and Orson Wells.

Parondo won two consecutive Academy Awards for Best Artistic Direction in 1971 and 1972 for "General Patton" and "The Secret History of the Russian Palace", and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Art Direction in 1973 for "Traveling with My Aunt".

He has also won the Goya Award four times from the Spanish Film Academy. In 2006, he even ran to host the Spanish Film Academy.
