The big apple circus in New York will return to New York this week with new actors, highly thrilling performances and new surprises.

The much-loved circus, which performed at Lincoln Center, will reopen Thursday, NBCNY reported. Last year, the circus was forced to close due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. Now, circus performances are back on sale.

Nik Wallenda, a high-wire stuntman and Guinness World Record holder, said it was now a dream come true to recreate "one of America's greatest shows" with three award-winning producers.

In an interview with "Today Show," Valenda stood on a tightrope above the stage and said, "From the moment you walked in, we've been trying to change the whole environment."

Some of the changes guests will see include new curtains, stages and sets, as well as performances never seen before.

"One of the luckies in my career has been that I've been able to travel the world and make headlines with some of the greatest performers, all of whom are now performing with me in New York," Valenda said. Wallenda will share the stage with some stars on America's Got Talent, X-Factor and YouTube, including dangerous magician Matt Johnson and hula performer Irina Akimova.

Officials said the Big Apple Circus would follow guidelines from New York State, New York City and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where spectators over the age of 12 must wear masks and show proof of vaccination. Interested citizens can learn more about tickets, dates and safety guidelines on the website.
