Wuhan Evening News (reporter Ming Guansheng correspondent Chen Changli) The annual Tropical Orchid Exhibition of the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will open on February 5 in the landscape greenhouse of the park, and 8,000 tropical orchids will be the "pioneers" of the New Year. The world-famous Orchid "Greek Princess" and "Frog Prince" appeared, telling the story of "Pingshui Meet".
At the end of each year, it is the off-season for flower viewing. The Wuhan Botanical Garden, which first introduced the Tropical Orchid Exhibition in 2004, was a huge hit. Since then, it has been done every year, and it has become a traditional flower event in Jiangcheng, which has been held for 18 sessions so far.
This year's Tropical Orchid Exhibition, with the theme of "Materials and Arts", is decorated with 6 main scenes and 6 small scenes. On January 31, the horticulturist who was arranging the landscape greenhouse of the garden introduced that there were more than 100 kinds of orchids (including varieties) such as Dendrobium orchid, Orchid and Phalaenopsis orchids on display at the flower exhibition site, mainly tropical orchids. Many of them are tropical Chelans from all over the world that have made their debut in Jiangcheng.
The first-appearance of the foot column orchid, the slender inflorescence is densely covered with yellow-green florets, which naturally droop like a firecracker. Native to North America, the "three-pointed orchid" is one of the most compact and exquisite potted orchids in the Tropical Orchids of the Americas, it is colorful, and the tail of the three sepals is as thin as a needle and has a unique shape. Native to Central and South America, the petals on both sides of the flower do not open, and they are close to each other, which is quite similar to the phenomenon of "holding the heart" in the national orchid, so it is called "heart orchid". It is understood that the "genus name" in the taxonomy of the orchid is named after the daughter of the Trojan king in ancient Greek legends, so it is called "Greek princess". The large comet orchid with star-shaped flowers and ultra-long flower spacing, as beautiful as a comet, is known to the world for its association with Darwin, and was later named "Darwinland".
The flower exhibition also displayed the world's first-class key protected endangered plants with great ornamental value and research value, such as the national first-class endangered species White Flag Orchid, which is known as the "Frog Prince", in order to enhance the public's understanding and awareness of orchids.
In order to better present the beauty of tropical orchids and give people a novel visual experience, this year's tropical orchid exhibition adopts 9 new environmental protection decorative materials such as flower laser film, stainless steel corrugated board, hot melt pipe, wood wire sound-absorbing board, straw woven paper, soft mirror, etc., through the clever design of designers, to achieve the perfect combination of tropical orchid "material" and "art".
In the pool on the north side of the rainforest room, three landscape walls made of the new material "stainless steel corrugated board" of home decoration stand in the pool, and the horticulturist creates a frame through the hollowing out of the middle of the landscape wall. On the white hot melt pipe hanging from the frame window, dendrobium orchid, Wenxin orchid, phalaenopsis orchid and air pineapple are climbed, like a fan fan, and the art shows the wonderful scene of tropical orchids leaving the soil and "suspended" in the air.
The pond on the southwest side of the rainforest room is a "Turning Luck" theme landscape, which is made of tropical orchids such as Bandai orchid, Chiyo orchid, dendrobium orchid and so on. The windmill-like styling panels wrapped in laser film display cool colors that combine with the ethereal air roots of tropical orchids to turn the luck of the New Year.
This year's exhibition will last until March 31. At present, the Wuhan Botanical Garden implements a time-sharing reservation system, and tourists can enter the park only if they make a reservation on the "Hubei Tour" Mini Program.
