On April 23, peninsula reporters learned from the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute that the national key research and development plan project "Thorn Ginseng, Sea Urchin Fine Seed Efficient Seed Preparation and Seed Propagation Technology" passed the stage on-site acceptance.

A few days ago, the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute invited relevant experts to conduct phased on-site acceptance of the relevant research tasks in the national key research and development plan project "Thorn Ginseng, Sea Urchin Fine Seed Efficient Seed Preparation and Seed Expansion Technology" jointly undertaken by the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute and Qingdao Ruizihai Treasures Development Co., Ltd.

The acceptance expert group is composed of Liu Hongjun, researcher of Shandong Institute of Marine Biology, Wang Jiye, researcher of Qingdao National Marine Science Research Center, Professor Zhu Wei of Qingdao Agricultural University, Zheng Jiong, director of Qingdao Fishery Technology Extension Station, and Li Dejun, director of Fishery Technology Extension Station of Qingdao West Coast New Area.

The acceptance expert group listened to the work report of the project team, inspected the seed preservation and seedling breeding sites, and conducted on-site acceptance of the efficient production of good ginseng seeds and the expansion of seedlings by counting the number of parent ginseng and seedlings, random sampling and verification of production records. The project team used the established method of parental ecological ripening of ginseng to cultivate 59,700 heads of good ginseng; As of the project acceptance, 6.29 billion "Zhanyou No. 1" ear-shaped larvae have been cultivated, and 4.73 billion juveniles have been promoted, covering Dalian, Yingkou, Yantai, Qingdao, Dongying and other regions; A large-scale breeding technology system for large-scale factory-sized seedlings has been established, and a total of 71,000 kilograms of large-scale seedlings of different varieties (lines) such as Ginseng No. 1, Russian f1 generation seedlings, Sino-Russian hybrid Ginseng seedlings, and "Qingqing No. 1" f3 generation have been preserved.

The acceptance expert group gave high praise to the research work carried out by the project team and the results achieved, and believed that the results of the project would lay a good germplasm foundation for the improvement of the coverage rate of fine seeds of ginseng seedlings in China, and unanimously agreed to pass the on-site acceptance.

It is reported that diseases and high temperatures will cause huge economic losses to the ginseng farming industry. As early as 2005, Wang Yingeng, a researcher at the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, led a team to start breeding new varieties, which lasted for 12 years, and finally selected and bred the thorn ginseng variety "Samyou No. 1" that could withstand the disease and withstand the 32 °C heat. In 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced new varieties of aquatic products, and "Zhanyou No. 1" was listed among them.
