British actor Clive Owen, a close friend of the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand, joined the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival, chaired by Meryl Streep, and became a member of the jury of the famous Golden and Silver Bear Awards in the competition section in 2016.

Other members of the jury include Italian actress Alba Lowach, Polish director Makozata Schmovzka, French cinematographer Brigitte Lacomber, British film critic Nick James and German stage actor Ras Edinger. In addition, another close friend of the jaeger-LeCoultre brand, Daniel Bruhl, also wore a double-sided flip watch to the event.

Each year, the Berlin International Film Festival screens around 400 works of different genres and lengths, and the competition has been at the heart of the Berlin International Film Festival since 1951. Over the past 60 years, the Berlin international film festival has shown the latest works from around the world, setting a new trend in filmmaking. In this year's main competition section, a total of 18 outstanding films competed for the Golden Bear and Silver Bear Awards.
