Not many people today may know about Yu Mingzhen, but I am afraid that one of his great-grandsons has heard of him, who once ruled Shanghai and was later promoted to chairman of the national Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Although Yu Mingzhen is a native of Shaoxing, his family has a lot of ties with Hunan, which is probably also the background of the rise of the Xiang Army and the fact that the governor of Liangjiang was almost contracted by Hunan people, and the Yu family and the Xiang army were inextricably linked. His father, Yu Wenbao, was a member of Xinning and Dong'anzhi Counties in Hunan Province, with a family of Shanhua (in present-day Changsha), and several brothers grew up in Hunan. Yu Mingzhen's third brother Yu Mingyi married the Zeng Guofan family in Hunan. The Yu family also married the Chen Baozhen family, who had served as the governor of Hunan, and Yu Mingzhen's sister married Chen Baozhen's son Chen Sanli (that is, Chen Yinke's mother), thus becoming the "Hunan Wang clan".

Yu Mingzhen was the general office of the Jiangnan Army Normal School, and the mining railway school attached to this school recruited Zhou Shuren, a disciple of an old bureaucrat from his ancestral hometown of Shaoxing. Later, Lu Xun described this mental journey in "Screaming from the Preface":
Who has fallen into a difficult situation from a well-off family, I think that in this way, I can probably see the true face of the world; I am going to enter the K school, as if I want to take a different path, escape from another place, and seek a different kind of people. My mother had no law, and she did eight yuan of Sichuan capital, saying that it was my own convenience; but Yi cried, which was exactly what was reasonable, because at that time, reading and taking the exam was the right way, the so-called study of foreign affairs, the society thought that she was a desperate person, had to sell her soul to the devil, to be doubly ridiculed and rejected, and Yi could not see his son. Lu Xun recalled in "Chao Hua Xi Shi Zhi Zhi Zhi" when he entered the Mining Road Academy to study:

This general office is Yu Mingzhen, which shows that his thinking is very progressive. During his tenure as the General Office of the Lu Division, he twice led the students of the Lu Division to study in Japan, including Lu Xun and his son Yu Dachun. Because his son Yu Dachun went to Japan to study, accepted revolutionary ideas, and became friends with some anti-Qing young intellectuals, such as Wu Zhihui, Zhang Taiyan, Zhang Shizhao, and so on. Yu Dachun was the director of the Longhai Railway Bureau of the Ministry of Communications at that time. Because of this relationship, Yu Mingzhen deliberately released water in the later "Su Bao" case, saving the lives of many "anti-thieves".
The "Su Bao" case was a major event in the late Qing Dynasty, and it had a catalytic effect on the differentiation of revolution and reform and the integration of revolutionary forces. The trigger for this case was Zhang Taiyan's "Su Bao" published "Refuting Kang Youwei's Book on Revolution", naming and calling the Guangxu Emperor a "clown with a clown and not identifying the wheat.". Although the newspaper was located in the Shanghai Concession, the dignity of the emperor was at stake, and the Qing court demanded that the concession authorities arrest their colleagues in Su Bao.
At that time, Yu Mingzhen was serving as an alternate Taoist in Shanghai, and the Qing government assigned him to "inspect the affairs of the revolutionary party", and he took the opportunity to report to his son's rebellious friends.

I also heard that the case began at the beginning, the investigator was undecided, and The husband was afraid of injuring the soldiers, and he had tried to start with this case. On the day of Shanghai, he ordered The Great Purity to recruit Wu Jingheng to consult the Gurudwara. The escape of Cai Xiaomin and Wu Zhi was deliberately indulged by Mr. Li. All these are enough to show that Mr. Yu is unwilling to arrest Yu and Yu. At that time, Yu was interested in engaging in practical revolution, and traveled with Dachun with the Games Party, between Taixing and Nanjing and Changsha, and his writings did not reveal his real name.
Only Zhang Taiyan, who was full of bulls, was a good man, did not want to abscond, tied his hands, and then recruited his own iron fan Zou Rong to turn himself in. In the end, Zou Rong was killed, and Zou Yu died in prison.
After entering the Republic of China, the descendants of Yu Mingzhen and his younger brother Yu Mingyi were mostly prominent, but there was an interesting phenomenon: Yu Mingyi's descendants were more inclined to the Kuomintang, while Yu Mingzhen's descendants were more dyed red.
Yu Mingyi married Zeng Guangshan, the granddaughter of Zeng Guofan and the daughter of Zeng Jihong. He had the son, Yu Dawei, who served as Minister of Defense of the Republic of China and Minister of Communications of the Republic of China, and his wife's cousin Chen Xinwu. He and Chen Yinke are cousins. Yu Dawei had a son, Yu Yanghe, whose maiden name was Yu Qide, and married Chiang Kai-shek's eldest granddaughter, Jiang Xiaozhang. One of Yu Mingyi's daughters, Yu Dacai, was Mrs. Fu Sinian.
The other daughter, Yu Daqi, was Mrs. Zeng Zhao.
Yu Mingzhen's son Yu Dachun has the eldest son, Yu Qixiao, who studied in the United States and became a professor in Tianjin after returning to China; the second yu Qixin specialized in chemistry and worked in an arsenal; the fourth Yu Qizhong, a student of agriculture, returned from the United States in the 1950s as a professor at a certain university in Beijing.
Yu Dachun's third son, Yu Qiwei, also known as Huang Jing, was born in Beijing and lived with his mother in Nanjing as a child. He was the secretary of the underground party branch of the National Shandong University and an important leader of the Shandong Party organization of the Communist Party of China. He married a wife named Li Yunhe, who later divorced, and his ex-wife went south to Shanghai and west to Yan'an, where she married a more cattle leader. Huang Jinghou married his wife Fan Jin, and Fan Jin's uncle was Fan Wenlan. The two had three sons and two daughters, one of whom became the key leader today.
Chen Bohan's "Miscellaneous Notes" records an anecdote about Yu Mingzhen, which can be seen in his low-key pragmatism:

At that time, Yu Mingzhen served as the general office of the Jiangnan Lushi Academy with the rank of Daoist, and was regarded as a military school principal, a four-pin official, and a caravan and a pro-soldier. When others invite his guests, they must entertain the caravan and the accompanying soldiers.
