James Knox Polk was born on November 2, 1795, and was the 11th President of the United States, who served from March 4, 1845 to March 4, 1849. Born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, USA. Both of his parents are of Scottish Irish descent. His maternal grandfather was a captain during the Revolutionary War, and his father was a farmer who ran a plantation.
