At that time, Ye Qisun, who was not yet 13 years old, was admitted to Tsinghua Xuetang, and then relied on his own efforts to win the opportunity to study in the physics department of the University of Chicago at public expense.

At that time in China, there were very few available talents, and the academic conditions were extremely difficult, but Ye Qisun never wanted to give up.
Under his efforts, Tsinghua University established the later ace major——— Department of Physics, with him as the head of the Physics Department, which was actually a sacrifice for himself, equivalent to giving up his professional research to do administrative work.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Ye Qisun's beloved apprentice Xiong Dajian gave up the opportunity to study abroad and went to the anti-Japanese base area in Central Hebei to use his professional skills to help the base area develop weapons and assemble radio stations.

Although he did not want Xiong Dajian to leave, he still used his own strength to secretly organize students to help Xiong Dajian carry out scientific research and deliver supplies to the base area.
Unfortunately, Xiong Dajian's ending made people sigh, and in 1939, Xiong Dajian was framed as a spy and was killed.
When Ye Qisun learned of this news, he suddenly felt five thunderbolts, and he was convinced that his students were patriotic, so he always insisted on filing a grievance for Xiong Dajian, but when the wind and rain were shaking, who would pay attention to Ye Qisun's request?
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ye Qisun, who was a professor at Tsinghua University, still did not give up, hoping to clear his students of the crime, but contrary to his wishes, in 1968, Ye Qisun, who was already 70 years old, was framed for being related to the secret service because of Xiong Dajian's affairs, and was arrested and imprisoned.

Ye Qisun, who had been a high-ranking person all his life, could not stand the inhuman treatment in prison, and his spirit was stimulated, and he was depressed and depressed, and his memory was declining.
He was released in 1969, but because of the quarantine censorship and surveillance for so long, he had auditory hallucinations, believing that a radio station was watching him all the time.
"My every move was monitored, I took a sip of tea, the radio said I was drinking tea wrong, I wanted to go out the door, the radio told me to go back immediately," he said of his nephew's situation, with deep despair in his eyes.
When he went to see his nephew to see this situation, he was extremely sad, held his hands tightly, and said painfully, "You are a physics student, you know that the air waves cannot penetrate the wall, there is no such thing at all, it is an illusion."
How much the nephew hoped that he could wake up, but at this time Ye Qisun was delirious and scolded the nephew, "You are blind, it is your ears that are deaf and cannot hear the surveillance radio."
After that, Ye Qisun was imprisoned again, he suffered great physical and mental torture, and his spirit was on the verge of collapse.
After his release from prison, he was seriously ill, urinary incontinence, his legs were swollen so badly that he could not walk, and his whole body arched at 90 degrees, and this old man was like a dead wood swaying in the wind and rain.
Walking down the street, everyone avoided him for three minutes, he was delirious, his clothes were tattered, and the once highly respected master had become a madman with only half a life left, a beggar.
At that time, many people in the Zhongguancun area had seen him, he was wearing a pair of torn cotton shoes with a broken head, and sometimes he went to the stall and asked the stall owner for one or two small apples, chewing while walking.
If he meets a student-like person, he stretches out his hand and says, "If you have money, give me a few", the request is only three or five yuan, Xu is in his mind, the consciousness of loving and caring for students is instinctive.
Later, he gradually regained some sanity, and often wandered alone at the gate of Tsinghua Garden.
Once, Qian Sanqiang, then deputy director of the Second Machine Department and in charge of the atomic bomb project, met him on the road in Zhongguancun:

In 1977, he was taken to the hospital for rescue, and when he was about to die, he was still talking about returning to Tsinghua, and he wanted to return to that school to see if his students were all right.
The academic titan died at the age of 79 due to ineffective rescue, and it was not until 1986 that his grievances were cleared.
