There were more than four hundred emperors in ancient China, and in addition to their names, there were often references such as what ancestors, what sects, and what emperors. This is actually the emperor's temple number, nickname and era name, in history due to the different chronological characteristics of these three "numbers" caused each of them to have their own "prosperity" period, so an emperor often only has one title is more famous, other names are not very famous Many people are not clear, such as the following emperors:
1. Emperor Gao of Han - Liu Bang, "Emperor Gao" is Liu Bang's nickname, "Taizu" is Liu Bang's temple number, he did not have a year number at that time, the year number began from Emperor Wu of Han. Therefore, Liu Bang was called "Emperor Taizugao". However, Liu Bang is famous for his temple number, and it is said that Liu Bang, the ancestor of Han Gao. There are two points that need to be explained, one is that Liu Bangmiao's Han Taizu is not Han Gaozu. Second, there were very few emperors with temple names at that time, so most of the emperors were called by nicknames: such as Emperor Wen of Han, Emperor Jing of Han, Emperor Wu of Han, etc. Emperor Guangwu's temple number Han Shizu also knew that not many people knew.
2. Sui Gaozu - Yang Jian, Yang Jian is famous for the nickname of "Sui Wendi", but Gaozu's temple number is little known. Here is a brief mention of "Taizu" and "Gaozu", Emperor Taizu is generally self-made or did not have prominent ancestors before, to him here developed, such as Liu Bang, is Han Taizu, pure grassroots counterattack, Zhu Yuanzhang is also Ming Taizu. Gaozu was under Emperor Taizu, there was no Taizu cattle, but he was also a pioneer, such as Yang Jian, the ancestor of Sui Gaozu, whose father Yang Zhong was posthumously honored as emperor, and the temple name was Taizu, because he was a general of the Northern Zhou Dynasty and the Duke of Sui, and Yang Jian was obviously the basis for inheriting him.
This was also the case with Tang Gaozu Li Yuan, whose father Li Hu was the Duke of Tang during the Sui Dynasty and was later posthumously honored as emperor with the temple name Taizu. In the Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties, basically every emperor had a temple number, so at this time there were more emperors to call the emperor by the temple number, and the "name" became unrealistic because it became longer and longer. Therefore, at this time, "Zu" and "Zong" called the emperor well-known: Tang Taizong, Song Taizu, Yuan Shizu and so on.
3. Ming Taizong - Zhu Di, Zhu Di is not Ming Chengzu, how did he become Ming Taizong again? After Zhu Di's death, his posthumous title was indeed "Taizong", but when Emperor Ming Shizong Zhu Houxi was the Jiajing Emperor, he changed his title to "Chengzu", because Zhu Di changed the lineage of the Ming Emperor, and Jiajing was also succeeded by the King of the Domain, so it was beneficial to him.
The only one who uses the title of "Chengzu" is Zhu Di, and the general founding monarch "Taizu" - "Gaozu" - "Taizong" ... if it is "Shizu", it is generally the lord of Zhongxing, such as the Guangwu Emperor Liu Xiumiao "Han Shizu", the Yuan Dynasty Ancestor Kublai Khan, the Qing Dynasty Ancestor Shunzhi Emperor and so on. He used Chengzu, and he certainly didn't feel as close as "Ming Taizong", of course, becoming "Zu" still improved a lot.
4. Chongde Emperor - Emperor Taiji of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Taiji changed the name of Jin to "Qing", he was the first emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and Nurhaci was only the Great Khan of Houjin. "Chongde" is the second era name of Emperor Taiji, and it is also the era name after he established the Qing Dynasty. Everyone knows that after the Qing Dynasty entered the Customs, the ten emperors were all called by era names, such as Kangxi (Qing Shengzu), Yongzheng (Qing Shizong), Qianlong (Qing Gaozong), etc. Many people are not clear about the temple number. This is because in the Ming and Qing dynasties, each emperor basically only had one era name during his reign, unlike the previous emperors who often changed the era name, such as Tang Xuanzong Li Longji, it was not good to call him by the era name, otherwise he would be called "Kaiyuan Emperor" or "Tianbao Emperor".
Emperor Taiji was the only one in the Qing Dynasty who had two of the 12 emperors (Great Khans) from Nurhaci to Puyi, Tiancong and Chongde, because he changed the name of the country.
