The cross-border pursuit of the investigation theme OF THE TV series "Fox Hunting" is continuing to be popular. In the play, the cunning "fox" runs overseas in order to escape the punishment of the law. In reality, what exactly did "red notice" personnel experience abroad?
Recently, the People's Court of Yixing City, Jiangsu Province, sentenced Wang Yi, former director of the legal and intellectual property management department of China Resources Microelectronics Co., Ltd., to nine years' imprisonment for the crimes of misappropriation of funds, the crime of embezzlement of office, and the crime of accepting bribes from non-state employees. As the first of the 50 "red notice" personnel released by the Central Fugitive Pursuit Office for the second time, Wang Ji's fugitive life can be described as thrilling.
The director of law has become a crazy gambler
Born in Shanghai, the 46-year-old wang ji obtained a bachelor's degree in China and studied for a master's degree in law in the United Kingdom, after which he worked as a lecturer in Shanghai. Due to his outstanding ability, he was introduced by the headhunting company to Jiangsu China Resources Microelectronics Co., Ltd. as the manager of the legal department in 2008, and was promoted to the director of the legal department in less than a year. Wang Ji has an enviable job and income, but after a business trip, he completely changed his fate.
In 2011, Wang Ji traveled to Macau on a business trip, tried to play at the casino, and won at the beginning. After a moment of pride, Wang Ji indulged in it, and after that, he often went to Macau with cash and stayed in the casino for two or three days. At first, Wang Ji just played in the hall, and when his bet chips became larger and larger, he was invited to the private room. Wang Ji met Li Wei (pseudonym) in the private room, who specialized in code washing and grading in macau casinos.
In January 2012, Wang Ji lost in the Macau casino with 400,000 cash, he was not willing, wanted to win back a round, he took the initiative to find Li Wei, borrow chips from him to continue gambling, Li Wei learned about his job and position, happily lent him, the result of Wang Ji suddenly lost 3.5 million yuan. A month later, with the mentality of fighting again, Wang Ji came to Macau again, he did not bring cash, directly borrowed chips from Li Wei, and tried to turn the book. However, contrary to his wishes, he borrowed more than 8 million yuan from Li Wei three times, all of which were lost.
Misappropriation of funds to fill gambling debt loopholes
After returning from Macau, Wang Ji was chased by Li Wei, and coupled with the casino's overdue repayment to charge 20% interest, the amount he had to repay was close to tens of millions after multiple superpositions. Li Wei went to the door to force debts, and the panicked Wang Ji began to ask for help from relatives and friends, but only raised 500,000 yuan, which was a drop in the bucket compared to the huge debts he owed. Frightened, Wang began to transfer company funds, accept bribes, and go to the abyss of crime.
Taking advantage of his position in handling the company's legal disputes, Wang Yi fabricated the need to pay a security deposit in relevant civil lawsuits and other reasons, embezzled the company's funds totaling more than 7.35 million yuan three times from January to May 2012, and then called the embezzled funds to Li Wei through the account of the cooperative law firm. In addition, Wang Yi also took advantage of his position to deliberately exaggerate the costs required for work, and through the cooperative law firm, falsely invoiced the lawyer's fees to the company for settlement and settlement, and then arbitraged the company's funds by withdrawing money or spending money abroad, illegally appropriating more than 390,000 yuan of it for himself.
Blinded by gambling, he did not refuse money and property, and many people targeted his "hobby" and gave him gifts to ask him to take care of the company's legal business. In a coffee shop in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, Mr. Wei of a law firm had a pleasant conversation with Wang Ji, and before leaving, he handed an envelope containing 20,000 yuan in cash, which Wang Ji did not hesitate to put into his bag. Devoured by greed, he has accepted cash bribes totaling 700,000 yuan from many people.
Absconding abroad will not escape for a lifetime
Two days before Chinese New Year's Eve 2013, when he learned that the company was facing the news of the audit, Wang Ji was completely confused, he realized that his embezzlement of the company's funds was about to be exposed, plus he still owed Li Wei 2 million yuan, and in the panic, he had only one thought: "Run!" ”
Wang purchased his latest flight to Singapore and began his life as a fugitive amid the eager return of the Spring Festival.
After the Spring Festival holiday, Wang Ji did not go to work, the mobile phone has been turned off, and colleagues still cannot contact him after recharging his mobile phone. During the company's audit, it was also found that there were three sums of money totaling more than 7.35 million yuan in the account. On February 27, the company reported the case to the police. On April 9, Wang was arrested with the approval of the Binhu District People's Procuratorate in Wuxi City, and in the same year, the Ministry of Public Security issued a red notice through Interpol.

Although the escape was successful, Wang Ji's life was not as easy as imagined. Because his visa in Singapore was only 15 days away, he hurried to Cambodia. Coinciding with the political turmoil in Cambodia, a terrified Wang Had to apply for a visa to Vietnam. In order to escape the pursuit once and for all, he applied for a U.S. visa in Vietnam and bought a plane ticket to the United States. When the plane was transiting in South Korea, Wang Ji sat in the waiting hall, looking at the crowds, and couldn't help but think of his elderly parents and 94-year-old grandmother at home, and his heart was full of hesitation. "If you go to the United States, you may never come back." After some ideological struggle, he chose to stay in South Korea, where the Chinese community made a living by doing odd jobs.
Five months later, due to the expiry of his South Korean visa, Wang Ji ran back to Southeast Asia because of the overdue visa. He has worked as an English translator for a number of businessmen to earn living expenses. Unexpectedly, during this period, he accidentally encountered robbery, IDENTITY CARD, passport, etc. were all lost, he lost his identity and had nowhere to hide, congenital heart disease also recurred, thinking of various encounters in a foreign country, Wang Ji could not help but shed tears of regret, coupled with the thoughts of his hometown and family, he began to find a way to sneak back to China.
Through a black intermediary, Wang Ji followed a Chinese tour group back to China from the Guangxi border and hitchhiked all the way north to east. With little cash left, he could only occasionally seek accommodation at the farmhouses along the way, suffering a lot. On June 6, 2018, the International Office of Recovery of Stolen Goods of the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group issued the Announcement on Clues Related to Some Fugitives, which disclosed relevant clues about 50 fugitives suspected of job-related crimes and economic crimes, including Wang Ji for suspected embezzlement of office. 10 days later, Wang Ji came to the Public Security Bureau of Fu'an County, Jiangxi Province, and voluntarily surrendered himself.
The sentence for several crimes was combined with a sentence of nine years
In September 2018, designated by the Wuxi Municipal Supervision Commission, the Yixing Municipal Supervision Commission opened an investigation into Wang Ji. In May 2019, the Yixing Municipal Procuratorate prosecuted Wang Ji in accordance with the law. In December, the Yixing Municipal People's Court held a public trial of defendant Wang Ji on suspicion of misappropriating funds, embezzlement of office, and bribery of non-state workers.

For the stolen funds that have not yet been recovered, the defendant Wang Ji is ordered to return the compensation and return it to the victim's unit.
"I used to think that I could get rid of legal sanctions by escaping, but I was condemned by my conscience every day, I failed to live up to the expectations of my family, leaders and colleagues, I accepted the punishment of the law, and I must be well reformed." Standing in the defendant's seat, Wang Ji was now full of wind and frost, and his low voice spoke out in pain.
