Shan Tao (205 – March 3, 283), courtesy name Juyuan. A native of Huai County, Hanoi County (present-day Wuzhixi, Henan). During the Three Kingdoms to the Western Jin Dynasty, he was a minister and a famous scholar, and one of the "Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest". ShanTao's father, Shan Yao, was an official of Wangu County. Shantao was widowed at an early age and his family was poor. When I was a teenager, I had a lot of equipment and stood out. He likes "Zhuangzi" and "Lao Tzu", and often lives in seclusion in the countryside, covering up his ambitions and talents. He was friends with mingshi Ji Kang and Lu An, and later met Ruan Yuan, becoming a friend of the bamboo forest, and several people were interested in the friendship, which was a friendship of Mo Rebellion. Yuan Hong called ShanTao and seven others "Famous Men of the Bamboo Forest" in the "Biography of Famous Scholars", and the history called "Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest".

In the early years of the Tai Dynasty (266-274), Emperor Jia Shantao of jinwu was made the lieutenant of Fengche, and the duke of Jin was xinpubo. When Yang Hu was in power, someone wanted to frame Pei Xiu, and Shan Tao was fierce to protect Pei Xiu, so he did not conform to the will of the powerful subjects, and served as the general of Jizhou Assassin Shi and Jia Ningyuan.

The customs of Jizhou are despicable, and there is no wind of recommending talents. Shantao identified and selected reclusive people, visited sages, and commended or appointed more than thirty people, all of which were famous in the world. As a result, Shantao was admired and respected by the people and scholars, and local customs were also changed. Shantao was re-elected for more than ten years, and whenever there was a shortage of official positions, he generally selected a few spare people, saw that the edict was inclined to a certain person, and then made it clear that he would first put forward the people that Sima Yan wanted to use, so the people Sima Yan wanted to use were sometimes not brought up first, and the people did not understand the details, thinking that Shantao used people according to his own wishes. Some people said in front of Sima Yan that Shantao's was not, so Sima Yan personally wrote an edict admonishing Shantao: "The criterion for employing people is to be talented, and not to leave out those who are lonely and talented, and only by indoctrination can be spread throughout the world." Shantao still acted the same way, and after a year, the opinions of the people subsided. The characters recommended by Shan Tao were listed in a book, which was called "Shan Gong Notice" at that time. He elected hundreds of officials before and after him to select talents and use their abilities, only Lu Liang, who was appointed by Sima Yan's edict, and disagreed with Shantao, who argued and Sima Yan did not listen. Lu Liang was also soon deposed for embezzlement and bribery.

According to legend, the Zhulin Temple in Jizhou was built to commemorate the "Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest", and the "Ziwei Xizhao" of the Zhulin Temple was the first of the eight scenic spots in the Ming and Qing dynasties of Jizhou. Here, in the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were two spectacles of "mirages", so Zhulin Temple is also known as "Hanging Temple".
