The Eternals are a star-studded group of stars, including Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington, Kumel Nanjani, and others. While Marvel Studios hasn't shown anything in the film other than some of the early character concept art, one reason the film is so appealing is its director.
In 2018, Marvel hired Zhao Ting to direct "The Eternals" shortly after Zhao Ting's directorial debut "Knight" became one of the highest-rated films of the year, and her "No Place" is also expected to compete for an Oscar. Although Zhao Ting may not have experience shooting superhero blockbusters, she got the job because of her incredible promotion.
In an exclusive interview with Zhao Ting in Rolling Stone magazine, Kevin Feige was interviewed about the impact she had on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige praised Zhao Ting's ability to create small, personalized movies and the "grand thinking" that fits marvel.
He also told the media that Zhao Ting's publicity for "Eternals" was incredible. Fei Qi's original words were not made public, and he believed that "Zhao Ting's publicity for this film is the best he has ever heard." He went on to joke that the film was a "very grand, comprehensive story that spans multiple millennia."
Zhao Ting has complete creative control, and this film is also influenced by the comics, which also makes this film unique. Due to the related delays caused by the epidemic, the film is scheduled to be released on November 5, 2021.
