A fatty acid that is also found in almost all oils and fats

Stearic acid, alias: octadecanoic acid, | octadecanoic acid| lipid wax. It is a fatty acid widely present in nature, almost all oils and fats have varying levels of stearic acid, higher in animal fats, such as shea butter content of up to 24%, vegetable oil content is less, tea oil is 0.8%, palm oil is 6%, but the content in cocoa butter is as high as 34%. According to the understanding of Beite Chemical, which supplies octaacic acid, the production method of industrial stearic acid mainly includes two kinds of fractionation method and pressing method. A decomposer is added to the hardening oil, and then hydrolyzed to obtain crude fatty acids, and then washed, distilled, decolored to obtain the finished product, while by-product glycerol.

First, physical properties

1. Properties: white waxy transparent solid or slightly yellow waxy solid. Can be dispersed into powder, slightly with the smell of butter.

Relative density (g/ml, 20/4 °C): 0.9408

3. Relative vapour density (g/ml, air = 1): not determined

4. Melting point (oc): 67~69

5 Boiling point (oc, atmospheric pressure): 183~184(133.3pa)

6. Boiling point (oc, 5.2kpa): 360

7. Refractive index (n20d): 1.455

8. Flash point (oc): >110

9, solubility: insoluble in water, slightly soluble in cold ethanol, easier to dissolve when heated. Slightly soluble in acetone, benzene, easily soluble in ether, chloroform, hot ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide.

Second, the use

1. Used in agricultural chemicals, food, crayons, candles, cement, coatings, inks, leather waxes, lubricants, metalworking, mining, pencils, capsules and ointments, plastics, tires and rubber, textiles, paper and other industries.

2. For the production of stearates, including sodium stearate, magnesium stearate, calcium stearate, lead stearate, aluminum stearate, cadmium stearate, iron stearate, potassium stearate.

3. In the cosmetics industry, it is an indispensable raw material for the manufacture of general emulsified products, which is used to prepare alabaster, cold cream, foundation cream, shaving cream, hair milk and skin care lotion. Among them, it plays an emulsifying role in two types of skin care products, alabaster and cold cream, so that it becomes a stable and white paste.

4. Used as a vulcanizing active agent (rubber vulcanizing agent) of natural rubber, synthetic glue (except butyl rubber) and latex.

5. Used as plastic cold resistant plasticizer and PVC stabilizer and lubricant.

6. Used in medicine for the preparation of ointments, suppositories, etc.

7. The product is used as a raw material for lubricants, defoamers and food additives in the food industry.

8. It is also widely used in papermaking additives, mold release agents, polishing agents, metal mineral flotation agents, solvents for oil-soluble pigments, crayon tuning agents, wax paper polishing agents, emulsifiers, etc.

Third, the storage method:

1. Type 200 stearic acid is packed in cardboard boxes. Type 800 stearic acid is packed in a woven bag lined with plastic bags. Store in a cool, ventilated place.

2. This product can be packed in cardboard box or woven bag lined with plastic bag. Net weight per carton (bag) 25kg or 50kg.

3. Store in a cool, dry and ventilated place, paying attention to keep away from fire sources and oxidants. Stored and transported in accordance with general chemical regulations.
