Because life is limited, the joy of life is always fresh - Bertrand. Russell

author:Simple wave

All great works contain tedious parts, and all great lives contain dull efforts. British writer Bertrand. Russell, the most influential writer of the 20th century, is a Nobel Prize winner, is a writer with rich experience and a wide range of works, this book translated by Mr. Fu Lei, a well-known translator in China, "Happiness as I Understand".

The author explains about happiness from 17 angles, the first half is what makes people unhappy, a total of 9 aspects to explain the reasons that hinder people's happiness, the second half from 8 places to explain the elements of happiness. The author does not talk about it in generalities, but explains the essence behind each point thoroughly.

My biggest takeaway from this book is that dull efforts are also part of a happy life, which also makes me feel a lot quieter, can smoothly pass through my dull stages, and find the joy of life from it.

I will start from my own life and discuss with you from these 3 aspects, what is unhappy?

The first is competition, which is what we now call comparison and contrast, think about the beginning of the birth, we began to be compared life, there are brothers and sisters in the family compared with brothers and sisters, no with neighbors, classmates, all-round competition comparison, than learning, than ability, than eating and drinking, than who is beautiful, who is more sensible, who can talk more, who is more likeable.

Grow up to work, get married or compete, than who has more wedding cars, than who has face, who has money, who buys a new house, who has a good job, who earns more money, who is in good shape, who has a high emotional intelligence, who is promoted quickly, who has the ability. In short, a series of competitions in life.

In the words of the user, this is the root of the disease, and life is regarded as a struggle and a competition, and respect belongs to the victor, which makes people sacrifice reason and enlightenment.

The second is boredom and excitement

This point is something I didn't think of myself, but it makes sense to think about it, think back, in March this year, after I left my job, every day was to get up early, go to the park to walk and exercise, for a period of time, I felt very bored, I felt that I was living the same life every day, I was very unenergetic, I felt that I became mechanically self-disciplined, and I felt that there was no motivation to get up early.

Always want to do something a little different, just like the author of the book said, originally after eating every day, everyone chatted together, rare family communication time, girls feel very bored, lost fun, very mechanical feeling. Need something a little different to stimulate yourself to make yourself feel excited.

The bottom layer of excitement is the hope that something will happen, and more than 50% of the sins in life come from boredom, so boredom is also the biggest obstacle to happiness, it is out of nature, life is like walking in the desert.

The third is fatigue

Fatigue is divided into muscles, intelligence, the first time I heard intellectual fatigue, here intellectual fatigue on the one hand is emotions, on the other hand is nerves, a simple sentence is not dare to rest, and fear is everything that produces fatigue.

Fear is the cause of all fatigue, because fear does not dare to rest, afraid of a rest on the accident, I used to work, there will be such a situation, do not dare to rest, there was a time, I found that I did not dare to stop the pace of learning, I am afraid that I will stop learning to grow I will return to the past state, has always felt that I am very tired, the body is also very tired.

Now that I have solved this fear, I can rest very safely, and the people around me will still have this fear, will be afraid of other people's opinions, and feel that once I rest, I will be exhausted, and I will be very panicked. I have a friend who is in this situation, I have repeatedly shared with her the importance of relaxation and rest, she is still very afraid of rest, even at home still have to find things to do, if you do not do anything today, you will feel that you have not gained this day.

The best way to break the fear is to concentrate your attention, think about what you fear reasonably and calmly, until it gets along with you naturally, in a simple sentence, to accept it, to face it, and not to stop your steps.

These are a few of the elements that make us unhappy and happy, of course the author lists more than these, there are other aspects, such as jealousy, masochism, etc.

So can we still be happy?

Yes, the author also lists the elements of happiness, the secret of happiness is: "Let your interest expand as much as possible,

Respond to people, things, and things, and try to be friendly as much as possible.

The first point is work

Yes, you are not mistaken for work, work can not only help you accumulate wealth, but also one aspect of your ability to prove your value, you can enjoy the fun of work, it is skillful and constructive work, it is also in your own leisure time after work, work is part of happiness, not all.

The second point is idleness

Seeing leisure is not fun in an instant, leisure is our secondary interest, in fact, it is our hobby of spending time, it is what we need to relax and rest when we do things, only when we rest well, when we work can we work well Is not, leisure rest is also a moment when we help the body, mind, and brain to recharge.

The third point is the happy person

The author points out that happy people are partly external, partly on their own, and from this point of view, we are all already half happy, our external is safe, we live in a safe country, and the remaining half is the part that needs to be explored by ourselves.

The author says: "Whoever reflects the world in his heart is, in a sense, as vast as the world. Freed from the fear of being a slave to the environment, he will experience a deeper joy, and although his outward life is uncertain, he will always be a happy person in the depths of his soul."

The rest is what we need to get rid of, get rid of our inner fears, get rid of the factors that hinder our happiness, let us have a whole-hearted understanding of ourselves, let us develop enthusiasm and interest outward, get rid of the cage we set for ourselves, and be a happy person freely.
