Born in Shanghai on August 8, 1937, He Fan is a cinematographer, actor and director. He moved to Hong Kong with his family at an early age, and when he was thirteen years old, he received a birthday gift from his father- a camera, and since then Mr. Ho Fan has never studied photography, but he has taken photography alone in the streets of Shanghai, and at night his bathroom has become his darkroom. Mr. He Fan's first award was when he was a student, and his winning work was "A Boat on the Huangpu River". In Hong Kong, he was admitted to the University of Chinese hong Kong to become a writer and scholar, but his initial academic performance was not satisfactory, so Mr. Ho Fan interrupted his studies to start traveling and photography. He later returned to university, this time majoring in drama and founding the University Film and Television and Drama Club, and later became a Hong Kong film director and actor, Mr. Ho Fan has made twenty-eight commercial and art films. He said: "For me, film and cinematography are the same thing. As a cinematographer and filmmaker, I just use imagery to express myself. "My photography has never been proper, and what I express is my true self, really from my heart."

Ho Fan was the only one to photograph Hong Kong in the 1950s and 1960s, and his expression of light and shadow is full of drama. More importantly, he did not try to record Hong Kong, but used the lens to capture the characters, ordinary Hong Kong people.

From the age of 27 to 31, he has won eight consecutive "World Photography Top Ten" organized by the Photographic Society of America and has been repeatedly nominated as "The World's Top Photographers" and "Asia's Most Influential Photographers", and his works are often used by world-renowned media such as the New York Times Magazine bbc. Known as the "Cartier-Bresson of the East", Ho won nearly 300 Hong Kong and international photography awards and titles during his lifetime. His works are collected by private and public institutions, most notably the M+ Museum in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the National Library of France, the Museum of Modern Art of San Francisco, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
