Yun Daiying was an important leader of our Party in the early days, led the May Thirtieth Movement, founded The Chinese Youth, served as the secretary general of the Central Propaganda Department, and was elected as a member of the Central Committee.
Chairman Mao once worked with him and admired him very much, commenting: "Yun Daiying is a respected man, he is the leader of the revolutionary youth of the whole country, he has a very strong theoretical level, and he is a very outstanding propaganda agitator. ”
Unfortunately, in May 1930, Yun Daiying was arrested by the Kuomintang and imprisoned.
However, Yun Daiying used a pseudonym at that time, called "Wang Zuolin", saying that he was just an ordinary worker, and others asked him to distribute some leaflets and did not know anything about the Communist Party.
The people in the prison did not know him, and did not get any substantial evidence, so they were sentenced to 5 years in prison for the crime of "workers holding meetings without authorization", and were successively detained in Caohejing Prison and Suzhou Prison.
At the same time, the organization also launched an active rescue, and Zhou Enlai also gave Chen Geng a death order: No matter what, Yun Daiying must be rescued!
Yun Daiying used to serve as the political chief instructor at the Whampoa Military Academy, Chen Geng was his student, and he had great respect for him, so he actively ran for Yun Daiying in many ways, and finally found a classmate of the Shanghai High Court, who promised to help Chen Geng in his activities, and finally agreed that if Chen Geng could pay a certain ransom, Yun Daiying would be released early.
Chen Geng was very happy, immediately agreed, and reported to Zhou Enlai at the first time. Zhou Enlai began to arrange fundraising and informed Yun Daiying's wife of the situation, telling her that Yun Daiying would soon be released from prison.
At this time, Yun Daiying was fighting with the enemy in prison, because his identity was not revealed, and the enemy could not grasp the handle, but only routinely interrogated him every day, so Yun Daiying was also full of confidence in his release from prison.
On Chen Geng's side, continuing to do the work of his old classmates, the two agreed that Yun Daiying would complete all the formalities for release from prison on parole before being transferred to the Nanjing Central Military Prison.
At this point, it seems that all work is developing in a good direction, whether it is the party organization outside the prison or Yun Daiying inside the prison, they are full of confidence and expectations, and Yun Daiying's wife has also begun to count the days with her fingers.
However, no one expected that at this critical time, something went wrong!
In April 1931, Gu Shunzhang, the head of the Central Special Branch, was arrested and defected, confessing everything he knew, which caused devastating damage to the party organization in Shanghai. What is even more shameless is that in order to ask for credit, Gu Shunzhang also went to the prison to identify people whose party is imprisoned here and whose identities have not yet been revealed, including Yun Daiying.
When the reactionaries learned of Yun Daiying's true identity, they were overjoyed and immediately reported it to Nanjing. Chiang Kai-shek was also very happy, and specially asked people to find the photo of Yun Daiying when he was at the Whampoa Military Academy, and sent Wang Zhennan, director of the Department of Military Justice, to the prison and checked it with the photos.
Yun Daiying knew that his identity was exposed and could no longer hide it, so he simply said to Wang Zhennan: "No need to check, I am Yun Daiying." ”
Chiang Kai-shek and Yun Daiying had worked together at the Whampoa Military Academy, and they still knew his talents very well, and felt that he was a rare talent, and if they could be drawn together, it would be a huge blow to the Communist Party.
However, Yun Daiying was unmoved by these conditions, and said passionately: "I don't have a single thing of value on me, only a pair of glasses worth a few dollars." The phosphorus in my body can only make four boxes of foreign fire, and I am willing to use my phosphorus to emit more heat and light, and I hope that it will burn up, burn off the old China, and give birth to a new China! ”
Chiang Kai-shek saw that there was no hope of making him change his mind, so he secretly ordered Yun Daiying to be shot.
At this time, Zhou Enlai and Chen Geng were still working hard to rescue Yun Daiying, and they did not know that Yun Daiying had been identified by Gu Shunzhang, and they did not know the news until the day when parole was agreed.
Zhou Enlai sighed that the rescue work could no longer continue, and could only watch Yun Daiying's bravery and righteousness.
On April 29, 1931, Yun Daiying was shot at the East Gate of the Xijiang River in Nanjing, at the age of 36.
On the night before the execution, Yun Daiying knew that he was about to be shot, and left a desperate poem on the prison wall:
Wandering rivers and lakes reminiscing about the old tour,
The late life death each thousand autumn.
Have been troubled by ordinary things,
Stay proud and be a prisoner.
Nineteen years later, on April 29, 1950, premier Zhou Enlai wrote the following paragraph when commemorating Yun Daiying's activities: "Comrade Yun Daiying, the leader beloved by Chinese youth, has been sacrificed for 19 years, and his proletarian consciousness, enthusiasm for work, strong will, simple style, spirit of sacrifice, mass quality, and touching persuasiveness should always become a model for Chinese youth." ”
