What kind of work is "Anqi Caprice"?
Anqi is a small village on the northwest coast of Kinmen Island across the sea from Xiamen. In 1949, the East China Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army organized the Battle of Zhangxiajin, and just a week after the liberation of Xiamen, the People's Liberation Army launched the Kinmen Campaign in order to realize the reunification of the motherland, and more than 3,800 People's Liberation Army members died heroically in the battle, of which more than 1,500 soldiers were buried in Anqi.
Based on the Battle of Zhangxiajin and composed by Xie Peng, a young composer and doctor of composition at the Central Conservatory of Music, "Anqi Caprice" is the first original symphony in Xiamen with the theme of specific war events, aiming to pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to the cause of the liberation of the Chinese people and the reunification of the motherland.
"Anqi Caprice" consists of four parts: "Preface", the first movement "Battle", the second movement "Diary", and the third movement "Eternal Life". Since its premiere in 2017, "Anqi Caprice" has not only been played in theaters, but also entered military camps, colleges and universities, and communities, with a wide range of social influences.
