Follow me and learn history with ease

Zhang Jun, who was slightly northwestern, suffered a crushing defeat at Fuping, but bought the Southern Song Dynasty time for strategic adjustment, but the Coup d'état of the Jin Dynasty and the great war were still inevitable.

Hello friends, I am Wang Qingbin

Welcome to my album, a clear account of colorful history.

The Jin people supported the pseudo-Qi, that is, to establish a buffer zone between themselves and the Southern Song Dynasty, so that they could calmly digest the Hedong and Hebei regions, because here has just fallen, the will to resist Jin is relatively strong, there are many anti-Jin armies, and there are also threats from the Guanshan Song army here in the Jin Kingdom.

The long-term peace maintained by the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao State greatly weakened the combat effectiveness of the Hebei Song Army, while the Northwest Army has been fighting against the Western Xia, and is the strongest combat effectiveness of the Song Army. The two southern invasions of the Jin State eliminated most of the Northwest Army, but there were still 200,000 Northwest Army stationed in the Guanshan region, so the Jin Army adjusted the direction of the main battle to this side.

Since ancient times, the Sichuan-Shaanxi region has held a special position in politics, economy and military, and its particularity is even more obvious when the political situation is turbulent. Like the Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang dynasties, they all started from the Guanzhong region and then unified the world.

In the early days of the establishment of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Jianghuai region was too much impact on the Jin army, and it was also urgent to use troops in the northwest direction to contain the Jin people in order to alleviate the positive pressure, and Song Gaozong did not want to be chased and fled to the sea. He accepted the strategy of Zhang Jun, who had made meritorious contributions to the pacification of The Miao Liu Mutiny, and appointed him as a privy envoy and envoy to Sichuan and Shaanxi, that is, the minister of national defense and the highest commander of the western theater, with Shaanxi, Sichuan, Jinghu, and Jingxi as the hinterland to manage the great cause of recovery.

In 1128, a year before Zhang Jun arrived in the northwest, the Jin dynasty captured Yan'an Province, and then occupied almost all the prefectures and counties around Qinlong.

However, as soon as Zhang Jun arrived in the northwest to preside over the battle situation, he found that the situation was far more complicated than he thought, and the 5th Route Song army in the northwest was very ununited with each other, and when Yan Lou attacked Shaanzhou, Qu Duan, deputy commander of the Northwest Theater, actually disobeyed Zhang Jun's orders and did not go to the rescue, and later this happened many times, which made Zhang Jun very angry, dismissed his military power, and later killed him.

After that, Zhang Jun tried to coordinate the various departments and vigorously reorganize the armaments, but the situation soon changed. Soon after he arrived in the northwest, there was a large-scale invasion of yan Zongbi's "searching the mountains and inspecting the sea to capture Zhao Shuo", although in the end Song Gaozong survived from the sea and the Jin army also withdrew, but it was stationed in the Huai River area, and it was possible to go south again at any time. Therefore, Zhang Junzhi's army was only half a year old, and he decided to launch a large-scale offensive against the Jin state in the northwest, and Song Gaozong was also eager to hope that he would launch a military operation to alleviate the pressure in the east.

Zhang Jun, with unprecedented momentum of the Song Dynasty, issued a letter of battle to the Jin general Yan Zonghan, asking for an agreed time to fight.

In fact, many generals suggested that when the Jin army was not mass-assembled, he would first concentrate on attacking Yan Lou's room, but although Zhang Jun was a literati, he was arrogant, and he would fight the Jin army to the death, and use the superior strength in his hand to give the Jin army a heavy blow.

The Song army concentrated 400,000 troops on the Yongxing Army, Qin Feng, Jingyuan, Huanqing, and Xihe 5 Roads, and the Jin army rushed from the eastern front to the western front, as well as the troops of Yan Zongfu, plus the Yan Lou Room, and the three fronts also had more than 100,000 people, and the two sides fought a big battle in Fuping.

Only Zhang Jun gambled and lost, although the Jin army was small, but the Fuping battlefield was a plain area, most of the Jin army was cavalry with absolute superiority, and the Song army originally expected the swamps of Fuping to be able to block the cavalry of the Jin army, but it was useless in front of the Jin army with rich combat experience, the Jin army filled the swamp with sacks of sand and firewood, and the cavalry galloped across the road. The Song army originally fought with the Jin army with superior troops, but Zhao Zhe, who was personally promoted by Zhang Jun, escaped from the battlefield, resulting in the collapse of the entire line, and the Song army suffered a disastrous defeat at the Battle of Fuping.

The situation was very critical, and after the victory of Fuping, the Jin army continued to march forward, and as long as it went further, it would open the door to Sichuan.

At the moment of crisis, Qin Fengjing slightly sent Wu Jiu and his younger brother Wu Xuan to the strategic location of Shangyuan, and with the remnants of the army, they surprised and defeated the large army of the Jin army, repeatedly defeated Yan Zongbi, and even almost let him die on the battlefield, so that the Jin army suffered the worst defeat since the invasion of the Song.

The following year, the Jin army once again attacked the western front, and the brothers Wu Jiu and Wu Xuan once again dealt a heavy blow to the Jin army with a small number of troops, so that the Jin army never mobilized troops against Sichuan and Shu in the future, and thus the brothers Wu Jiu and Wu Xuan became among the famous generals of the Southern Song Dynasty against the Jin.

Although the Battle of Fuping launched by Zhang Jun suffered a crushing defeat, it greatly contained the strength of the Jin army, alleviated the pressure on the Song army on the eastern front, and because of the excellent performance of the Wu brothers to save Sichuan, the Southern Song Still had enough strategic depth and room for maneuver, and it could not be said that it was a complete failure in strategy.

During this period, the situation between the Song and Jin dynasties had begun to change, and the Song Dynasty took advantage of Zhang Jun's use of troops in the west to calmly complete the adjustment of the strategic defensive line, and the Jin State also supported the pseudo-Qi, hoping that they could maintain military pressure on the Southern Song Dynasty.

In fact, at the turn of the two Song Dynasties, the south was not very peaceful. As soon as the Southern Song Dynasty was established, under the banner of resisting gold, it skillfully set up all kinds of harsh taxes and miscellaneous taxes, and wantonly plundered the people's fat and people's ointment. Land annexation and heavy taxes are often the crux of the peasants' uncovering, and at the same time, the unprecedented brutal war damage has forced the common people to take risks, so there will be so-called exiles everywhere.

After the southern song dynasty's small court crossed south, it focused its main energy on quelling these rebellions, of course, the positive side was to consolidate the rear, which was conducive to the social stability and economic recovery of the Southern Song Dynasty, and thus the so-called "four major generals of Zhongxing" were born.

The four major generals of Zhongxing refer to Zhang Jun (a military general, not the civilian official mentioned earlier), Liu Guangshi, Han Shizhong, and Yue Fei, who grew up in the suppression of the rebel armed groups, incorporated the elite forces into an army, and created the "Han Family Army, Yue Family Army" loyal to themselves, which became the main armed forces of the Southern Song Dynasty court.

Since the establishment of the puppet Qi regime in 1130 AD, Liu Yu was well aware of the requirements of the Jin people, and he spared no effort to use troops against the Song, hoping to have a better performance in front of his Jin masters and prove the value of his existence. However, his troops were basically local troops surrendered in Hebei and Henan, as well as those who were pursued and suppressed on the side of the Southern Song Dynasty, who fled to his side, and such an army had no combat effectiveness.

After several years of counterinsurgency and fighting against the puppet Qi army, the Southern Song Dynasty gradually formed a stable Jianghuai defensive line, with Zhang Junbu stationed in Xuyi, Han Shizhong stationed in Huai'an, Liu Guangshi stationed in Hefei, and Yue Fei stationed in Xiangyang.

In 1137, Liu Yu of the Pseudo-Qi once again launched a large-scale attack, only to be defeated by the Song army, and the Jin people finally realized that Liu Yu was not only useless, but also became a burden, and simply withdrew the Pseudo-Qi regime and took over it all.

Of course, the jin state's combat strength was higher than that of the pseudo-Qi, and the Southern Song Dynasty had originally planned to integrate its military strength to recover its homeland, and now it was directly facing the Jin state and began to be more inclined to negotiate peace. At this time, the Jin State was in power by the main peace faction led by Guanyan Tart, and after more than a year of peace talks, the two sides basically reached an agreement on the Yellow River as the boundary, and the Jin State began to cede the occupied lands of Henan and Shaanxi to the Southern Song Dynasty.

However, not long after, there was a coup d'état in the Jin Kingdom, and Yan Tart and others were killed, and the hardline Yan Zongbi took power, and he sent troops to quickly take back the land that had been handed over. The Southern Song Dynasty side originally felt that the Jin people were cunning, and they had been wary of the other side's snare in cutting back the land, so the local officials who were sent to receive the land were only sent, and the troops did not move, and there was no substantial loss. But despite this, the change in the situation has made another major war between the two sides inevitable.
