Himalayan Elves (I)

80 million years ago, the ancient Indian Ocean plate violently collided with the Eurasian continent, and many squeezing movements formed the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, making it the highest and largest plateau in the world. The wonders of the Tibetan Plateau don't stop there, it's still growing at a rate of 7cm per year. On the Tibetan Plateau, there is another miracle – the Himalayas. "Himalayan" means "place inhabited by ice and snow" in Indian Sanskrit, a series of towering, endless ice peaks and snowy mountains inhabited by a rich variety of creatures.

Today's xiaobian introduces you to the primate Xishan long-tailed langur. The Hiyama long-tailed langur is a national first-class protected animal and is the largest of the langurs. They inhabit mainly Himalayan alpine forests and mountain scrubland, and are endemic to the Himalayans, with only about 1,000 of them currently in number.
