On July 15, 1948, the Kuomintang reactionaries brutally shot and killed seven guerrillas at the execution ground in Huaiji County, including a revolutionary couple who had generously and generously went to justice side by side: Zhi Qifen, a member of the Communist Party of China and leader of the guerrilla Yonggu Detachment, and her fiancée, Deng Yijuan, a cultural instructor of the detachment.
Zhi Qifen, also known as Qian Jun, a native of Suxia Village, Yonggu Township, Huaiji County, was born in 1925.
After graduating from elementary school in 1939, he was admitted to Huaiji County Middle School.
In 1942, he entered high school. During this period, under the guidance of teachers such as Gan Wenshao and Lin Heyi, members of the Communist Party of China, he read progressive books such as "What is Marxism-Leninism", "Materialist Dialectics", and "Mass Philosophy", and his thinking was enlightened, so that he actively threw himself into the anti-Japanese national salvation movement, and he often went to the countryside with his classmates to carry out anti-Japanese propaganda.
Deng Yijuan, a native of Huaiji County, was born in 1924 to a wealthier family, and her father was the secretary of the Kuomintang Huaiji County Party Department. Deng Yijuan has a stubborn personality from an early age and dares to break through the shackles of feudal etiquette.
After graduating from junior high school in the autumn of 1941, he taught alone at Liantang Primary School in Pinglehe County.
In the autumn of 1944, he returned to Huaiji High School, and through the introduction of his classmate Zhi Qifen, he joined the "Reading Club" organized by progressive teachers and students, read many progressive books and periodicals, and gained a certain understanding of the Chinese revolution. Gaining the trust of the party organization and doing a lot of useful work for the CCP's Huaiji underground party, she mobilized her aunt to vacate a relatively hidden "comfort villa" at home as a place for the secret activities of the Huaiji underground party.
In the summer of 1946, after graduating from high school, Zhi Qifen went to Guangzhou to prepare for the Guangzhou Chinese Culture Institute, and then transferred to Dade College in Hong Kong through the introduction of the Huaiji underground party. During this period, he came into contact with many well-known patriots and CPC members, further understood the revolutionary principles, and established a revolutionary outlook on life.
In the spring of 1947, the party organization of Dade College in Hong Kong secretly mobilized progressive students to return to the mainland to join the guerrillas. Zhi Qifen responded to the party's call, threw pen from Rong, and returned to Quang Ninh to join the Xijiang guerrillas. On April 20 of the same year, the Guangdehuai advance team led by Ye Xiangrong advanced to the area of Sendong and Jidong on the border of Guanghuai. In May 1947, Zhi Qifen was sent back to his hometown of Yonggu to secretly join the guerrillas with local youth, and Zhi Qifen's father, Zhi Gongming, also joined the guerrillas.
On June 2, 1947, the county town held an "anti-civil war, anti-hunger, anti-persecution" demonstration, Deng Yijuan and other progressive students faced the arrest of reactionary authorities, Huaiji underground party secretly arranged for Deng Yijuan and more than 20 other progressive students to leave the county, in mid-July transferred to the Guangde Huai advance team, they were organized into a team, called "Haiyan Team", Zhi Qifen as the captain.
On the night of August 15, 1947, the Huainan Uprising broke out, and the Guangde Huaibian guerrillas attacked the Kuomintang Huainan District Office and the Yonggu Township Office in two ways, and Zhi Qifen and Deng Yijuan participated in the battle against Yonggu. After the victory of the uprising, the members of the Yonggu nationality who participated in the uprising were organized into the Yonggu Detachment of the "Huainan People's Anti-Riot Brigade", with the captain Zhi Qifen, the deputy captain Chen Rujie, and Deng Yijuan as cultural instructors.
In December 1947, Zhi Qifen led the Yonggu Detachment to attack the Yonggu Township Office and the Self-Defense Force for the second time, and the Huainan District Self-Defense Force stationed in Shidongwei heard that the guerrillas had attacked Yonggu and dispatched more than 100 people to Yonggu to rescue them. After receiving this information, Zhi Qifen led the guerrillas to attack Shidongwei in a vacuum, attacked the district office, and surrendered 5 guns. By the time the enemy rushed back to Shidong, Zhi Qifen had led the guerrillas to retreat safely. Since then, there has been no fixed enemy station.
In March 1948, he led a team to attack the Zhagang Township Office and Tax Station more than 10 kilometers away from Huaicheng, which had a great impact. The Kuomintang Huaiji County authorities hated Zhi Qifen to the bone and offered a reward of 200 million yuan in Kuomintang paper money to arrest him.
In March 1948, Zhi Qifen joined the Communist Party of China.
In the common revolutionary ideals and combat life, Zhi Qifen and Deng Yijuan fell in love, and they put revolutionary interests first and personal interests second, and did not intend to get married for the time being. They turned love into a force of mutual concern, mutual help, mutual encouragement, and devoted themselves to the cause of revolution.
In June 1948, the Kuomintang Guangdong Guangxi Guidong "Joint Suppression" Command mobilized more than 2,000 troops to carry out key "encirclement and suppression" of the Huainan guerrilla zone. On June 10, after Zhi Qifen led the Yonggu detachment to cover the successful crossing of the river by Liu Nairen, the commander of the third regiment of the Suihe detachment, he was besieged by several times his own enemy in Shuang'an Chung in the village of Yonggu Fulu, and although he desperately resisted, he was finally arrested because he was outnumbered and ran out of food, and more than 30 people, including Zhi Qifen and Deng Yijuan, were unfortunately arrested. On June 12 (the day after the Dragon Boat Festival), Chen Rujie, Qian Shusan, Li Mulin, and Zhi Yun were killed by the enemy at Yongguwei.
Zhi Qifen, Deng Yijuan and other team members were escorted to the county seat. In prison, Zhi Qifen and Deng Yijuan withstood the severe tests of extorting confessions by torture and coercion and inducement, and always stood up to their righteousness and indomitable integrity, fully demonstrating the fearlessness of communists and revolutionary fighters. Deng Yijuan's father tried to release Deng Yijuan from prison on bail through a relationship, and the authorities said that as long as Deng Yijuan signed the "self-renewal" letter and confessed her mistakes and corrected it, she could get out of prison, but deng Yijuan refused, and later her father forced her to break away from the father-daughter relationship, and did not make her submit.
On July 15, 1948, Zhi Qifen, Deng Yijuan, Zhang Xin, Zhang Ren, Chen Yulan, Mai Hui, Zhang Yagou and seven others were killed by the enemy at the side of the city trench opposite Huaiji Xuemen. When Zhi Qifen and Deng Yijuan, a revolutionary couple, died, they were only 23 and 24 years old, respectively.
