Warner Bros. locked in the director for the ongoing "Doctor Sleep" sequel film "The Shining" (1980), and Mike Flanagan, director of Stephen King's adaptation of the film "Jerrod's Game", will write and direct the film.

Based on Stephen King's 2013 horror novel of the same name, Doctor Sleep will feature the protagonist of The Shining's son, Danny Torrance, who was left behind by a childhood encounter at the Winter Hilltop Hotel. The Shining, a classic 1980 thriller directed by Stanley Kubrick, also produced by Warner, tells the story of this encounter.

The Shining is also based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. It tells the story of the writer Jack, starring Jack Nicholson, who gets an errand to watch over the hilltop hotel in the winter, and his temper gets worse and worse over time, and he ends up killing his wife and children. Danny Lloyd plays Jack's son, Danny.

Directed by Mike Flanagan

Mike Flanagan, who has previously directed multiple horror films such as "Ghost Covered Eyes", "Before Waking Up", "Jerrod's Game", and he will rewrite the screenplay previously adapted by Aziva Goldsman ("Transformers 5", "Dark Tower"). His former producer partner Trevor Macy will co-produce the film with Vertigo Entertainment's Jon Borg (Wonder Woman, The Flash), with Goldman as executive producer.

It is worth mentioning that Warner Bros. released last year's Stephen King novel adaptation of "Joker Returns" finally grossed a staggering $700 million at the box office for $35 million, and the sequel to the film has been finalized for September 2019. It seems that Warner can't stop on the road to adapting Stephen King.
