Interesting part
"Quietly looking at the fierce ghost in the dark"
Dissatisfied part
"The plot is vague and nothing challenging"
The old mansions of the barren mountains and old forests, the scattered housework, the dim lights and the mysterious computer that turns on everything, the beginning of "Blackwood" can be said to be a classic setting. The game begins by throwing you into a dark cabin with a table next to you writing how to interact with objects, fumbling for you to find the light switch, and when you turn it on, you'll find yourself in a cabin.
After some exploration, open the small door to the back room, and you will see a long table with a computer and some miscellaneous objects on it, and when the computer approaches, a strange video will be played on the computer. With a flurry of turmoil, this haunted journey begins. First you will see a strange ghost that appears from time to time to frighten people. And your task is basically to find the door that should be opened, to enter the room that should be entered, and finally to usher in the end (I did not call out).
As a regular horror game, Blackwood seems to have a lot less to do, spending most of its time watching various object props, so we're almost certain that it's a VR experience-focused game. There aren't a lot of quick reactions in the game, and there's nothing like a combat that tests the operation, and the focus is on the tour.
So the graphics of the game are very good, the power of the Unreal Engine 4 is shown here, and the objects that appear in the game look very clear. Especially after putting on the VR helmet, the sense of presence becomes more prominent, and the game proves this through the appearance of fierce ghosts from time to time. But beyond that, the game seems to be missing something, there's nothing too hard puzzles, and basically no clear plot, and you're like walking in a haunted house, constantly looking for an exit. But that doesn't get in the way of the experience, and even if it's a haunted house tour, Blackwood can scare you enough.
If you don't even dare to play ordinary horror games, then it is estimated that you can't play "Blackwood" after wearing a VR headset, all kinds of jumping out of the frightened psychological horror, plus it seems that everyone has a good habit of turning off the lights, you often find yourself in a dark room, only a small perspective of a beam of light in front of you. And when encountering a ghost, it is simply creepy to turn off the lights and not to move.
VR can actually be said to be inherently compatible with horror games, especially in works like Blackwood, which have worked the screen, wearing a VR headset is simply experiencing a completely different game. And because the light isn't very bright, even if it's the first time you try it, it's not too dizzying, and it's perfect for newcomers who don't know how to play horror.
Overall, Blackwood is a horror game that has nothing to play, but is well worth experiencing, because you can understand the added value that VR brings to the gaming experience, just go to the toilet before playing the game.
