Because of a bowl of mutton, the commander-in-chief of the Song Kingdom was tragically betrayed by the "driver" and became the most nested prisoner in history

Throughout the history of wars in ancient and modern China and abroad, no matter how fiercely the war was fought, the commander-in-chief of the army under his command was always well protected. Even if the battle is lost, the troops will find ways to ensure the safety of the commander-in-chief, so that the commander-in-chief will not become a prisoner of the other side. However, during the Spring and Autumn Period, such a strange thing happened, the two armies of the Song State and the Zheng State were opposed, and before the battle began, the commander-in-chief of the Song army became a prisoner of the Zheng State. The reason is simple, the driver of the commander-in-chief of the Song army betrayed his leadership because of a bowl of mutton.

The commander-in-chief of the Song army, who was easily captured by Zheng Guo, was named Hua Yuan. In this way, you may not have any impression of this person, but when it comes to the idiom "Eryu I cheat", you must be familiar with it, and the origin of this idiom is related to Hua Yuan.

Hua Yuan was an important minister of the Song Dynasty, he had both courage and strategy, and he was often able to overcome dangers in dangerous situations. In 595 BC, King Zhuang of Chu led a large army to encircle the capital of the Song state. Although the military and people of the Song Dynasty resisted desperately under the leadership of Song Wengong and the chancellor Hua Yuan, they would not be able to destroy the country. However, 5 months passed, and the State of Chu not only showed no sign of withdrawing its troops, but built houses and planted land outside the Song City, looking like it was going to fight a protracted war.

Faced with the dilemma of no grain and grass inside and no rescue troops outside, Song Wengong was helpless. At this time, Hua Yuan took the initiative to stand up and ask for help, and wanted to break into the enemy camp at night to retreat from the enemy soldiers.

Late that night, Hua Yuan quietly came down to the city, dodged the heavy sentries, sneaked into the Chu army camp, entered the big tent of the Chu army commander Zi Xiang, and pulled the sleeping Zi Xiangsheng out of bed. In just 7 words, the history books recorded Hua Yuan's heroic indignation - "Dengzi reversed the bed, got up"

If we think about it for the son, we know how embarrassed and frightened he is when he is pulled out of the hot quilt by Hua Yuan. Zi Anti-sleepy eyes trembled and asked Hua Yuan, "You, you, what are you going to do?" ”

Hua Yuanyi said sternly, "I have come to ask you to retire!" I tell you the truth, our Song Dynasty has reached the point of cutting bones and cooking, changing children and eating, but even so, we will not surrender. If you want peace talks, please retreat thirty miles and let us sign a peace treaty to end this war! ”

In the face of Hua Yuan, who had fallen from the sky, the terrified son was so frightened that he had to report to the King of Chu Zhuang and accept Hua Yuan's condition of "retreating thirty miles and then negotiating peace". When the Chu army withdrew the next day, Hua Yuan came to the Chu camp as a hostage to negotiate, and finally made peace between the Chu state and the Song state, and made a covenant saying: "I have no deceit, and I have no worries." ”

This is the origin of the idiom "deceive me".

After telling this vivid story, we can definitely sketch a tall heroic image of Hua Yuan who is "heroic and fearless, breaking into the enemy camp at night, awe-inspiring righteousness, and seeing death as a homecoming". However, such a bold and invincible god of war level figure once led troops to fight Zheng Guo, because of a bowl of mutton, he was sold by his driver and became the most nested prisoner in history.

In 606 BC, in the spring of the fourth year of the reign of Duke Wen of Song, Zheng guo sent troops to attack the Song state. Song Wengong sent Hua Yuan as commander-in-chief to lead the troops to meet the battle. Hua Yuan attached great importance to this battle. In order to boost morale and achieve victory, before the battle, Hua Yuan ordered the cooks to slaughter the fat sheep and treat the three armies.

Hua Yuan, holding the mutton, stood on the high platform and said to the soldiers passionately: "Let us have a full meal and defeat the Zheng Army!" Do you have confidence? In the face of the commander's love and encouragement, the soldiers were excited and shouted: "Swear allegiance to the death and defeat Zheng Jun!" Pledge allegiance to the death and defeat the Zheng Army! ”

Seeing that the soldiers were full of energy and morale, Hua Yuan was even more confident, and thought that as long as a charge could beat the Zheng army to a flower.

The two armies faced each other, and Hua Yuan stood on top of the chariot, waving a long go, just about to give the order to attack. Unexpectedly, the driver who drove the chariot for him opened his mouth in advance and said: "The sheep of the past, the son is the government; today's affairs, I am the government." (This is also the source of the idiom "separate affairs") that is, Hua Yuan's driver said to Hua Yuan, before eating mutton, you have the final say; now the matter of fighting is up to me. Saying, "Snap, snap, snap" and lash out at the horse's buttocks, the war horse pulled the chariot like crazy and rushed towards the Zheng Army's position.

Although Hua Yuan was brave, in a hurry, only he rushed into the Zheng army's position in a chariot, and although he fought desperately, he still became a prisoner of the Zheng army. In this battle, the Song army that lost its command was defeated by the Zheng army, and the history books record that the Zheng army captured a total of 460 Song army chariots, captured 250 Song troops, and cut off the ears of a hundred song soldiers who died.

Why would Huayuan's drivers behave like this? It turned out that the problem was eating lamb. Hua Yuan used mutton to treat the three armies before the war, but his driver did not eat mutton for some reason, so the driver held a grudge, boarded the battlefield, and retaliated against Hua Yuan by rushing into the enemy position in advance. The "Records of History" records this process as follows: "Hua Yuan's generals fought, killed sheep to eat soldiers, and their royal sheep soup was not enough, so they complained, and rushed into the Zheng army, so the Song division was defeated and Hua Yuan was imprisoned." ”

Looking at history, there are many reasons for becoming a prisoner, but none of them is like Hua Yuan, who was pulled into the enemy position by his own driver because of a bowl of mutton. You say that Hua Yuan's captives deserve to be a nest or not a nest?

The hero Hua Yuan was captured, and the Song army lost the battle, but the Song kingdom could not do without this hero, so Song Wengong decided to redeem Hua Yuan with "four hundred military vehicles and four hundred horses". Although this Hua Yuan was taken prisoner, he still did not lose his heroic nature, and before Song Wengong could give all the items he ransomed to Zheng Guo, he stole back on his own.

According to the "Zuo Biography", the name of the person who served as a driver for Hua Yuan was Yang Zhuo. After Hua Yuan fled back to the Song Dynasty, as a hero and a great politician, he did not blame his driver Yang Zhuo, but wanted to give him a step down, saying: "It is not your fault that I was captured, it was the horses that were too disobedient." But this driver Yang Zhuo is also a tendon, to do things one person and one person to do it, not to receive Hua Yuan's affection at all, but to say: "Not Ma Ye, its people also." That is, the driver Yang Zhuo said to Hua Yuan in an affirmative tone: "It has nothing to do with the horse, that is, I want to do this on purpose!" Although the driver Yang Said Tough, after all, he knew that he was in a loss, so he fled to the country of Lu in anonymity and secretly went to live.

Although Hua Yuan became more and more popular after escaping from Zheng Jun, and later entered the enemy camp alone as mentioned above, he saved the Song Kingdom and became the "Elder of the Four Dynasties" of the Song Kingdom. However, looking back at the history of Hua Yuan as a prisoner, it is still very emotional, as a leader's sidekick, no matter what the reason did not eat mutton, nor could he pull the leader alone to rush to the enemy position!

Hua Yuan, a hero of a generation, has left a valuable lesson for our descendants with his own tragic experience -- that is, as a leader, he must put his ideals and beliefs in the first place in daily education management; he must not replace daily education management with the method of making wishes and giving benefits to officials. Otherwise, it seems to envelop people's hearts, but in fact, the faith is not firm, often they will suffer a little and complain, and then they will make out-of-line moves and endanger the overall situation.
