The legend of Meng Jiang Nu has been widely spread in the folk from generation to generation in the form of oral transmission.
This myth and legend can be traced back to the Zuo Zhuan as early as in history, and it is originally recorded that Qiliang's wife (that is, the later Meng Jiangnu) was able to treat things with courtesy when she lost her husband.
Until the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Xiang added several strokes to this story in the "Biography of the Daughters of Lie", so there was a plot of crying and collapsing the Great Wall in the story.
Later, after processing in the Sui and Tang dynasties, the Great Wall of Collapse was linked with Qin Shi Huang, and there was a modern version of the "Mengjiang Female Weeping Great Wall".
Legend has it that Meng Jiangnu's husband Fan Xiliang was arrested by Qin Shi Huang to build the Great Wall, and Meng Jiangnu kept the empty house alone for a whole year, still not looking forward to her husband's figure.
So she rushed to make winter clothes overnight, packed up, bid farewell to gaotang, and embarked on the road of finding a husband alone. She experienced the "ninety-nine eighty-one difficulties" all the way, and finally met the migrant workers who built the Great City with her husband in a small village, but all she waited for was the bad news that her husband had died of exhaustion.
She was difficult to accept for a while, and suddenly cried loudly, the tears fell straight away, only to cry darkly and shake the mountains, when the Great Wall suddenly collapsed with a "hissing" sound, revealing many white bones.
Meng Jiang nu recognized her husband's bones in a pile of white bones, so she stood next to her husband's bones and cried to death.
It is said that at this time, Qin Shi Huang was inspecting the progress of the construction of the Great Wall, and happened to hear that a woman was crying down the city wall, and in an instant, she was furious and rushed to this side with people and horses.
However, in the end, Qin Shi Huang did not severely punish Meng Jiangnu, why was this?
It turns out that all the reasons cannot escape the four words of "seeing the color and starting the meaning".
When Qin Shi Huang was furious and planned to personally dispose of Meng Jiangnu, he suddenly found that Meng Jiangnu was young and beautiful, so he planned to occupy Meng Jiangnu.
However, Qin Shi Huang had just killed the husband of the newly married Yan'er, and he wanted to forcibly marry someone else's family, where did such a good thing come from? Meng Jiangnu naturally disagreed, preferring to die rather than obey.
So Qin Shi Huang personally came forward, and Meng Jiang Nu asked Qin Shi Huang to promise her three things, and if she agreed, she would marry him. Qin Shi Huang agreed.
These three things are: first, to build a tomb for her husband; second, to wear a filial piety for her husband; third, to accompany Meng Jiangnu to the sea for three days.
Qin Shi Huang agreed as soon as his mind was hot.
After the first two things were done, Meng JiangNu took Qin Shi Huang to swim in the sea, only to hear a "fluttering" sound, Meng Jiang Nu jumped into the sea, and saw that the sea suddenly set off a fierce wind and waves, directly approaching Qin Shi Huang, and finally Qin Shi Huang could only escape.
At this time, I learned that Meng Jiang Nu was to avenge her husband and those unjust souls who had died in vain!
And the huge waves in the sea that day were the dragon king and the dragon girl in the sea sympathized with Meng Jiangnu, and when they saw her looking for death, they took her to the dragon palace and ordered their men to set off a fierce wind and waves to punish Qin Shi Huang.
This Meng Jiang woman is not a mortal, she is a female doll found in a giant melon that grew up in the Meng family and the Jiang family, so she is named "Meng Jiang Nu".
The encounter with her husband also stemmed from her rescue of Fan Xiliang, who was chased by officers and soldiers, so she was happy to marry.
Meng Jiang's daughter is smart and clever, Fan Xiliang has a handsome face, and her parents are combined, and the two of them are happy to be married.
Only three days after this hot day, Fan Xiliang was still chased by officers and soldiers to build the Great Wall.
It is lamentable that joy turns into white.
Qin Shi Huang harmed many good sons and daughters in the world because of his own selfish interests, but also because he was addicted to beauty, he was ridiculed in front of hundreds of officials for a small people, and even almost lost his life.
There are still many imperfections in this story, such as the Meng Jiang female goddess who can cry down the Great Wall but is powerless against Qin Shi Huang, a mortal, and Qin Shi Huang can promise her such an unreasonable request for Fan Xiliang to wear Ma Dai Filial Piety for the sake of beauty.
In this legend, we can clearly see the cognition and feelings of the people of all generations for the character of Qin Shi Huang, and it is obvious that everyone is very happy to let Qin Shi Huang "eat up".
Whether this is mixed with the resentment of the common people of successive dynasties against their own monarchs is unknown.
