The Shaolin Temple's Tibetan Scripture Cabinet was built between the Yuan Dynasty and the Zheng Dynasty (about 1345 AD), after which the Ming Yongle Dynasty and the Qing Shunzhi Dynasty were repaired. In the thirteenth year of Yongzheng (1735 AD), when the Shaolin Temple was repaired, the original Tibetan Scripture Cabinet was transferred to the Fa Tang, so the Fa Tang was also called the "Tibetan Scripture Cabinet". The original building of the Shaolin Temple's Tibetan Scripture Pavilion was destroyed in a fire in 1928 and rebuilt in 1993 according to the old system. Photo by Yue Long

On March 24th, the grand ceremony of the renovation of the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion of the Shaolin Temple in Songshan, Henan Province, and the exhibition of buddhist scriptures of "Fazang Shaolin" were held in the Shaolin Temple. From March 24th to 28th, the Shaolin Temple and Beijing Rongbaozhai jointly held the "Fazang Shaolin" Buddhist Scripture Exhibition at the Shaolin Temple's Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, where more than 30 pieces of scattered folk inscriptions and Buddhist scriptures from thousands of years will unveil the mystery to visitors. These Buddhist scriptures include the Tang Dynasty Scripture Scrolls, the Western Xia Script Scriptures, the Song and Yuan Scriptures, and the Ming and Qing Court Scriptures. Among them, China's first engraved dazang sutra "Kai Treasure", which is also the thirteenth original of the world's "Kai Treasure" found so far, will also be unveiled for the first time in this exhibition.

The Shaolin Temple's Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, also known as the Dharma Hall, is the first "National Key Protection Unit for Ancient Books" in the Buddhist community. Due to the wooden structure of the beams and columns in the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, it was seriously damaged by insects and ants, and was rebuilt at the end of May 2018 and is now reopened to the public.
