 Baoguosi East Jiadao is located in the Xicheng District of Beijing, with a closed northern end and a southern end bordered by Xiaoxing Hutong. In the autumn of 1843, the Daoguang Dynasty scholar Zhang Mu and He Shaoji, the editor of the Hanlin Academy, launched an initiative and raised funds to build the Gu Tinglin Ancestral Hall in the West Courtyard where Gu Yanwu lived in Baoguo Temple.

Zhang Mu (1805-1849), a native of Pingding, Shanxi, was originally known as Yingxian and a modern thinker, geographer, poet and calligrapher, who wrote "Mongolian Nomads", "Russian Supplement", "Wei Yanchang Topographical History" and so on. "Mongolian Nomads" is Zhang Mu's masterpiece, zhang zhidong and Liang Qichao have given it a very high evaluation, has been translated into foreign languages and published.

In 1832, Zhang Mu entered Beijing to take the exam, but for some reason lost the opportunity to take the exam, after which he had no intention of pursuing a career, concentrated on writing, and changed his name to Mu. Through various channels, he met Celebrities such as Gong Zizhen, Wei Yuan, He Shaoji, Xu Jihu and so on.

Zhang Mu's calligraphy is self-contained and has achieved remarkable results. At the same time, he was also rich in books, compiling the "General Catalogue of Books Collected by Zhang Shizhou", which recorded more than 1,000 kinds of books, of which there were more than 120 kinds of local chronicles, and the Collection Department and the History Department were also rich.

Zhang Mu wrote many works in his lifetime, including "Qianqiu Annals", "Series of Books", "Zhang Peifang Chronicles", "Zhang Sizhou Chronicles", "Huiji Mo GongShi Strategy", "Gu Tinglin Yan Ruoxuan Chronicles", "Historical History Maps", "Tang And Two Capital City Fang Examinations", "Lian Yun Shift Series", "Xiaofang Hu Youdi Cong", "Kunlun Similarities and Differences Examination" and so on. Peking University Library, Beijing Normal University Library, Beijing Library, Shanxi Library all have their own collections.
